Creative SoundblasterX G6 review: Best Headphone amp for streamers

Today we take a look at one of the best amps I've ever personally used, the brand spankin new SoundblasterX G6. This little amp is about the size of the palm of my hand, but dont let the size fool you. It pumps out some seriously impressive sound. It has a low impedance of just 1ohm, and can power headphones all the way up too 600ohms... incredible. Creative really knocked it out of the park with this headphone amp, and it's one in which I firmly believe streamers need in their setups. This awesome amp retails for just $150, which is a steal for what you get and a farcry from its older sibling the X7 which sells for right around $400... GET THIS AMP! If you honestly value good audio, want to elevate your game, look no further.

know that the mid and treble of the G6 are ear piercing, expect to do a lot of tweaking with the EQ on PC I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it will take time to tweak and adapt it to whatever you're listening as the G6 sounds very different from a motherboard headphone output or even an internal card like the Sounblaster Zxr (that I have took me a few days to find the right settings for the G6 but now I can finally remove my zxr)

I've got the AE-5 and G6 and been testing them with DT 1990 Pro's and the AE-5 is considerable louder than the G6 using effects mode. For instance in Crysis 3 at volume 16 the gun fires super loud with the AE-5...

I feel like I should say - the Sound Blaster Z was never "top of the line" in any way. It was actually the very bottom of the Z product line below two other cards.

I have a problem. Not sure if its the g6 or mod mic. I tried troubleshooting everything and the mod mic just wouldnt push out any signal. I had my dt 990pros connected to aux and my mod mic connected to the g6 mic input. I might just return the mod mic and get a external mic.

Looks good, but with the Super x-fi technology coming would it be worth waiting? I can only assume that creative are certain to release a USB amp/dac similar to the g6 but using this tech that in their own spiel is 'game changing'.
