I myself would have to do some studying on who and how they jabbed from a cross guard but until then: You can catch and shoot with a cross guard, one of the best ways to set up a lead hook.

I am a beginner and coach i want to ask you a question . When throwing punches should both feet need to be on ball or is it ok to be flat foot because I am losing balance when throwing punches in balls of my foot.
