What do you do when your bath bomb mixture goes from too wet to too dry and turns into sand? Do you keep adding fragrance, more oils, witch hazel?? What do you do to rehydrate dry bath bombs mix without going crazy with the oils?
@CreativeBathLab2 жыл бұрын
This is the first time I’ve gotten this question & was (is) still a big issue. So first, GREAT QUESTION. Once your mix gets like this it can be salvaged, but it will never be the same as when you first mixed wet/dry together. You could add witch Hazel/alcohol but I find that dries my mix out more than before. I normally try to save it by adding more POLYSORBATE a little bit at a time. I’ll work with it the best I can & if not, I’ll throw it away. Here’s the key: don’t make big batches. Only make small batches at a time Bc the mix is at its peak performing ability when it’s FRESHLY mixed!

Every time I get ready to practice with anything I always say now “what would my good cousin Dora do now?” 😘 P.S. What is cocoa betaine? What does it do?Do I have to use it in bath bombs?🤔
@CreativeBathLab3 жыл бұрын
Wow, what a lovely compliment! Thanks so much! coco betaine is a mild surfactant & a foam booster. I use it to slow the vigor of the bath bomb... If you don't have something to buffer the bath bomb's reactions (like coco betaine), it'll fizz & bubble so quickly that it lasts maybe 1 minute. No, it is not necessary in bath bombs. I just like it because it gives me the results that I am looking for.

I really enjoy watching your videos. You are very talented. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and talent with these videos. I am just starting out with bath bombs and wondering after you make your bombs, how/where do you let them sit while drying? Do you have a mold tray or something to let them dry? I imagine you can't let them sit on flat oan etc or the bottom would flatten. If you use tray or such where can I purchase it? Also, I am in Texas by the gulf, it' ALWAYS humid just like in Louisiana as you know. I purchased a dehumidifier but 50% humidity seriously... how do you ever get that much work done??!! Thank you so much!
@CreativeBathLab2 жыл бұрын
I have little holder molds (cheap little tin molds that are useless for molding so I use them to hold the drying bombs) although I have just let them set out on the counter & they've been fine. I just leave them in the room overnight in the holder molds. Yeah its best to make bombs under 40% humidity but honestly, I make them ANYWAYS. As you said, its humid & the ONLY time I get 40-50% is in the dead of winter.

@xanaxsnax3 жыл бұрын
Hey Dora! I looked on the list a couple of times but I didn't see where you get your colors from. I have tried several kinds but keep finding that anything purple or red leaves rings or residue in the tub. I am also having a hard time getting these colors to be vibrant in my mix. Can you recommend some brands? How much mica and how many drops do you recommend for a batch with one solid color? I wonder if I'm not using enough. Thanks and happy new year!
@CreativeBathLab3 жыл бұрын
I make my own color powder with liquid food colorants, here is the info: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZytXmahnqhrm6c Always use polysorbate 80 & then you shouldn't have rings. For liquid food colorant, liquid-gel is the best & most vibrant. How many drops is up to you. For really vibrant colors, I use about 10 drops per batch & always add color powder & a bit of neon mica. Hopes this helps!

@CreativeBathLab3 жыл бұрын
No preservative needed sweetie. There’s no 1 specific co to get EVERYTHING… but for main ingredients, this depends on how many & how often u plan on making them! For example if you plan on making A LOT, ALL THE TIME- I’d suggest buying in bulk… the shipping is pricey but it pays off in the long run. If you plan on “dabbling” or you’re just getting into it, Amazon for sure!

My bath bomb is just color. It isn't foamy bubbly or anything What do I do? I used 3/4 cornstarch 1/2 cup Epsom salts 1/2 cup citric acid 1 cup baking soda Mix 3 tbsp olive oil Essential oil I use soap coloring instead of Mica. Should I use Mica? I put it in a mold. Pressed it down, packed it full. Hit it very hard to get it out after like 30 seconds and let it sit for like 2 days. Ay suggestions?

Ohhh thank you so much for share your tricks..this video is so helpful!!! I loved it ♥️ I love to make bath bombs but right now I am testing my ingredients and I am learning each day because I think that it’s not easy to make them; in my case I have issues with the humidity in my environment 🥲 and my bath bombs get this humidity and as consequence they cracks. 💔

it is visibly a material that technically crumbles to the touch and to the slightest bumps ..., how do you explain its solidification?

Would you do a Christmas bath bomb, like red, green, gold? With a cinnamon/Holiday scent?? Or maybe pine scented...or nutmeg??

I just made some bath bombs before finding this awesome video.. is it true you can put them in the fridge for 30* in order to be able to use them quicker or do you have to wait 24hrs to a week?
@CreativeBathLab2 жыл бұрын
I’ve never heard of that. I know u can store in fridge to keep them longer

Thank you for the videos Dora! You are my goddess!!! Please excuse my dumb question, but what kind of oil would you recommend using to make the bomb more oily?
@CreativeBathLab2 жыл бұрын
Any kind! Choose your favorite! A carrier oil like sweet almond or even melt luxurious butters & add that to wet! Any oil will do!

I’m still waiting on my poly 80 delivery. It’s hard to get in Canada easily. In the mean time what do you suggest I substitute it with in this recipe? Witch hazel?

Thank you very much for this information and video. I have a question, I was going to use essential oils to mine, what other wet ingredient would I use to make up the difference between my 25 drops vs. Three teaspoons (or tablespoons) you used of fragrance oil? Thank you!
@CreativeBathLab3 жыл бұрын
You are very welcome. You can use which ever wet ingredient that you want! Carrier oil, water, polysorbate 80, etc.

Having a brain blurb. Dora, when it comes to witch hazel, do we use the one with or w/o alcohol? 🙄

Thank you so much!! I loved this recipe! Can't wait to try it! I have few doubts. Should I go with the same simple recipe if I'm living in a humid country? Also, do we need to add distilled water or witch hazel if we feel it's too dry?
@CreativeBathLab3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, use my simple recipe, if it’s still dry you can add whichever liquid. Just know that adding witch Hazel & alcohol will fix it for a bit but then the mix gets even drier. I’d suggest using POLYSORBATE 80 or carrier oil

Great great videos 💜, can really see your passion & knowledge into bath bombs. I have a question for you, I've noticed you use coco betaine sometimes and was curious for how come ? Guessing some formulas require/do better with it than others, but figured I'd ask. My other question for you--do you use SLSA & Sodium alginate often for the core & outer skin of bath bombs, or just for some in particular? Thank you and keep up the great work 😊
@CreativeBathLab3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Coco betaine is a surfactant & as such it slows the vigor, allowing the bomb to last longer & actually form bubbles & foam. You should watch my “make bombs like lush videos, this explains everything

Would you say mica is better or food colouring Also is a preservative needed at any point
@CreativeBathLab3 жыл бұрын
They’re both great & both have advantages. I like to use liquid as a base color to start off with & then add a little color powder &/or mica to get the exact color that I’m going for. 1 isn’t necessarily better or more concentrated than the other; it just depends on what you want & your preference... no preservative needed! Preservatives are only needed when you’re making something that’ll be exposed to water over an extended period of time (like scrub bars, salt scrub, etc). The preservative will keep mold/bacteria from forming & growing
