breeding really hasn't been super expensive for me, I use live an home made frozen foods. my expenses come from dry and commercial frozen foods, sponge filters, air hose, and brine shrimp eggs. I go through so many brine shrimp XD but I also breed guppies Corydoras and a couple species of killiefish. so live feeder cultures like grindal worms are a life saver. for jars I use half gallon juice bottles i only have to change them every other day ^^ I also heat my whole fish room with an​ oil filled radiator. yes I'm planning on a 5th and 6th spawn right now I'm just waiting to clear out grow outs so I need buyers :)

My spouse nd i have talkes about breesing bettas sometime within the next 2-3 years. This really helped see how big of a commitment it is. I also help on a forum for fish and see brand new fish keepers trying to jump straight into breeding when they don't even know basic care yet. I have never tried breeding but if I needed to store bettas individually, I would get a 1 inch internal piece of pvc and make a spray bar about 4 feet long. Cap it at both ends and drill holes every 4 inches. Then get a cheap adjustable pump from amazon for like 6 bucks and feed the spray bar. Then take 10 x 1 quart mason jars pitch the metal lid keep the ring, and cut knit backing to replace the lid. Put a chunk of lava rock in the bottom to add surface area for micro organisms. Put the new mesh lid on. Then line up your quart jars so the spray bar fills the jar. 1 hole per jar place in a container (with wall mounted guttering you could make a rack) that will catch the water as the jars over flow and also houses the pump. Keep the flow low on the pump. It will be a larger easier system to manage and the constant over flow will keep the jars clean. Maybe throw some java moss in there with them. I have never built this but it would work.

I've been researching betta breeding for well over half a year. I've saved up for a lot of fish stuff for the babies. In order to get the feel of taking care of gentler betta, I adopted a really tiny fry betta from a friend and babied her to a pretty big juvenile compared to how small she was before. I have also adopted a few betta I paid extra for to pick out the ones from the back of the store that looked the healthiest. I've had them for about a year now so they are used to me. If I like how it goes with my four betta (1 spawn at a time). It seems like a fun project. In about 4-6 years I will probably have a good betta thing going if all goes well.

What did you use to feed the fry? I'm planning to breed and am going to give them MicroWorms, vinegar eels, baby brine shrimp, grindal worms and frozen bloodworms. In that order too!

Hello! Really need your help here, I'm a beginner breeder, however I've get bettas/sororites for many years but anyway I was wondering how you heat your jars cost effectively? I'm unable to heat the room to the desired temperature but I've heard you can use a seedling matt, or keep the jars in one water source with a heater in, what would you reccomend?

Yes!! U inspire me to breed betta fish which I did!!! Koi betta's I now have fry that are 1 month old around 40-50 frys they are so cute and yes it is hard work time consuming watching them grow is everything even now they are 1 months old they still considered pretty small I'm not so sure on how I wanted to sell them thru local pet store or online by shipping !! I'm still thinking about it

Betta Fish Thats wonderful, I'm glad they are doing well so far. I think you can do both in terms of sales. Try online and any fish you have a hard time selling ypu can sell to the fish store. Aquabid.com is great as well as ebay. Try to share your fry on social media now..to build up a small waiting list of potential homes. This will make selling easier later.

I can’t find any almond leaves for breeding so I had to buy it off amazon but will take about a month or two so I can breed yet well I can but usually I would yes the almond leaves but the person I get it from doesn’t have any more 😢😢

how about making mulitible mini media filters running off an airpump with airline spliters to filter many jars at once? i think this would be an good option to look into for daily maintenance for grow out bettas.

I've always wondered why breeders haven't put at least some of their least aggressive female bettas into a sorority tank? I feel like that would make it less stressful as long as they get along. But I love your videos! That's awesome that you care so much about your fish and you really make sure that they're okay from the very start up until they're in their new home 💛

Suggestion. What if you used the tub method, but used plastic jars and drilled holes through the jars to let the water flow though the jars so all you need to do is place a filter in the tub and your water change would happen simultaneously through all the jars. P.S i love your vidéos ,

no dont feed while in spawning tank and when male is tending to the babies only it will distract them and there fine without food for a few days.

solid black female bettas are sometimes steral, usually an blue or green female is used for breeding from what i read online for research. also solid black bettas are rare colored as lime green and peach marbles are too depends on quality.

Oh, they're not full black bodied, their whole body is pure white but the fins are black. I said black dragon plakat cause that's how they're named in most part I've seen them. Google image "black dragon plakat betta" and you'll get what I mean :P I got them from a ( fish breeder) friend, who has bred both of the parents of the fish I got from him.

Lawrence Rodrigues the way they mate is aggressive so chasing is okay if he starts to hurt and injure her fins it's a problem and they should be bred another way
