I broke out in laughter when he said "I block 2 hours a day off for writing...and sometimes I don't write anything, I just think 😂" soo good to know we're not the only ones struggling with that

It sounds like a joke but isn't when some writers say that sitting there thinking is part of the writing process!

I’ve paid for KZbin classes and books and watched plenty of Film Booth but something tonight just clicked watching this. Not sure why it’s taken so long We’ve got to take the boring necessary idea and transforming into something interesting, entertaining every single time

I felt the same when he said "package it as what they want, and give them what they need". He said it elsewhere, and it was hammered home today. Really feeling confident after watching Ed's recent stuff.
@ccsaun Жыл бұрын
Two best points from this; you need to be able to make something boring into something interesting & and that building a community of valued followers is way more important that getting heaps of views.
@CauterizeKing10 ай бұрын
Right, but I'm still confused as to whether we should be aiming for high views, in order to get more leads into our businesses. He seems quite ambiguous on that point. I think aiming to get new people in by creating a video with broader appeal, if not every video then some videos, is a good way to tell the algorithm to pay more attention to you and find more of your ideal viewer. But, hey, Ed is great.

Ed's a genius. I happily watched his videos WAY before I thought about starting a channel just because he's so entertaining. I was (and am still) far more interested in his editing because it's brilliant. It's interesting how much I learned here about his process HERE after watching so many videos about the process.

12:15 my time in college, in the student publication club, we had senior editor solely to come up with the headlines that hooks the reader to the story submitted by other student journalists. And when I did an internship at The Onion, all they sat in a room coming up with the funniest headline. Then find photos to accompany it, and then write the article.

Today I blocked hours to attend a live educational event for aspiring KZbinrs! For most of the time I fought falling asleep and regretted paying money and time for some of their other content. Even though there were some helpful notes I took away from the “masterclass”, my biggest take away was discovering your channel while I was bored. I am so relieved to know that the feeling I had of being patronized by gatekeepers on the topics of KZbin education just so they could sell more of their content and repeat prerecorded videos on their channel in the live class couldn’t be more opposite of what you do!! I appreciate your “presumed intelligence” approach and willingness on your part to expose the journey of learning the puzzle of creation content. I feel 10 times more intelligent and enjoy some relatable laughs while watching your channel. I’m only one and a half episodes in and felt compelled to share this. I am stoked to binge watch many more episodes asap and tune in to your podcast during my work commute this the week! I can’t thank you enough. Think Media should take lessons from you!!

Package the idea then make a video. Click on what they want then deliver what they need. Undue the click bait. Educational channels that are using story are genius, make it som much more engaging to stick with the video. What is your story to lean into. I have been watching film booth for a while but i love this interview, lots to takeaways. Every video should have a goal. Be honest with yourself, if its boring then fix it with as story or metaphor. I love the keys across the table story. Create a story that they want to know what happens at the end. Another great interview, i love your choice of guests, excellent audio and video quality make it easier to watch a 35 min video beginning to end. Larry

I've been binging Ed's stuff for so long, I don't even remember when I first found him. And, when he said "mine are!" with such confidence (to the comment about assuming the viewers are smart), my heart soared a little. 🤣 Thank you so much for this interview! Your questions were insightful and really got me thinking, and Ed, it was great seeing your behind the scenes process - to see that you have to work through the same types of challenges really made me feel like less of a freak. ;) Sometimes I just assume that everyone else has got it all figured out, and it's encouraging to hear that I'm not alone & that even though it may never really go away, I will get better the more that I learn and practice.
