Completely agree. Also, if you notice Weasel only went feral after GI Robot dies. I think there’s more behind those funky eyes

GI Robot also serves as a metaphor for how badly veterans are treated in the US. GI was a hero, saved his company so much that they treated him as one of their own. He was "programmed" to view a single group as the enemy and to kill them without mercy or hesitation. He then returns from war, and is paraded around for his heroics a bit before ultimately being abandoned by the government that created him, and then treated like a criminal for standing up for the very beliefs they instilled in him. You could argue that GI's strong desire to return to war and reunite with his company is a parallel to veterans with PTSD as well. They really showed out writing his character

It's so interesting how James handled G.I Robot. Instead of a robot who questions it's identity and purpose, G.I just fully follows his detective and takes joy in it. But at the same time, he has other desires. He wants to hang out with his boys. He likes validation. He's such an interesting character.

3:22 I feel G. I. Robot's design reminds me of Robotman from Doom Patrol than of Robot from Invincible. Also, while I still love this episode, I can't ignore the fact that it took a great deal of plot convenience for G.I. (who can't go two minutes without declaring how much he longs to kill Nazis (honestly, the gag got really annoying all the way in episode 2)) somehow managed to never mention Nazis around the one person the plot needed him to bond with before revealing he's been a Nazi all this time.

I thought it was funny. But I could see how some people wouldn't... especially if they were Nazi sympathizers... like some MAGA.

Perfect. You voiced my gut reaction to this episode; glad to see others are picking up on how socially and politically relevant (and gutsy) this is. Kudos to James Gunn. 💥

Lovely video! Personally, I had a much different view of GI's personality. I thought that on some level, due to what he was built for, he WAS serious about killing Nazis, even at the TV event- Professor Magnus even says he's an early form of artificial intelligence as opposed to being a much more developed, far more human one. I read GI as being truly dedicated to that initial programming and forming a personality around it, learning to embrace what he was built for because it's all he really has and he can't really be any different. I also agree on the point of his "Oh brother" statement, GI had already shown his willingness to connect with the other Commandos on some level, even if it's not his core focus. I love what they did with the character and all the subtle and big ways they made his personality manifest despite being at first glance some antiquated machine. Fantastic character and show.

The show is great, but i hate how the sons of themyscira were reduced to a bunch of incels with guns. Especially since their story in the comics is actually pretty tragic. Wonder woman stories already don’t get a whole lot of attention outside of comics.

I do think there are "real" sons of themyscera and circe just gave those douches this name to manipulate them even more

Disagree, the SoT is a terrible story. It makes the amazons into fucking rapist-murderers. It’s not complex, it’s reductive
