I loved this finale (and the series as a whole) and didn’t find it “rushed” at all. After all, in James Gunn’s DCU the events of each project can carry over to the others - meaning that any questions we have now can be answered in the next movie/TV show. I don’t care if Flagg’s recovery isn’t seen until Superman or Peacemaker 2. 🤷🏾♂

The moment Weasel bites Phosphorus's arm reveals a deeper connection to his humanity, as his eyes briefly shift back to their original weasel form. This change hints at something inherently human within him, especially as he recalls a little girl in the princess and instinctively tries to warn her. However, the pain from the bite pulls him back into his primal state, dimming his eyes. This duality in Weasel's behavior intrigues me, making me eager to learn more about his backstory.

I personally enjoyed the vagueness of the “reasoning behind the Princess being a villain”. I think the only way to really explain why and how she would eventually start WWIII could only being explained through more future visions, since it most likely takes multiple years for the events to transpire leading to her fall into villainy, her collaboration with Grodd, and so forth. Leaving it unexplained kinda has an “I guess we’ll never know” vibe to it, which I think is fitting for the show since it’s a smaller project than something like Superman, which will definitely hold more canonical consequence.
@SchecterIsKING7 күн бұрын
But surely she had to be evil and definitely up to something in present day?? Or why would she have been going for her gun at the end. Or even trying to cover up everything with Clayface. She was currently up to something or had to have at least known what she was gonna do in the future.

About Wallers phone call instead of shocking them: In her defense Boba, she has no idea what stage of the mission they are at. They could be about to kill Alana, they could've already done it, they could've been in process of fighting soilders and making there way to kill her but either way...CALLING the general was the best solution so if NOTHING ELSE, he is aware that they were tricked by a witch If the commandos are shocked before they complete there mission or even after it solves nothing and waller has no idea what's going on, but if she calls it at least shows that "hey we were tricked so don't go to war with us over this" Not to mention again, if she shocks the commandos and they are killed in action thanks to her shocking them so they can't move then she loses a good team of monsters
@royd.68315 күн бұрын

2:45 When they said about that they weren't the only monster guest the Princess had lately, I thought they were talking about Eric because he busts through the window right as they said that. But as soon as I saw the Princesses eyes as she murdered Nina, I knew she was truly a "monster" and not as innocent as she let on. Also, the way she insisted on going for her swim even though Sergei warned her it was too dangerous, was a red flag. She was too care free for an innocent Princess that had a threat on her life. Subverted my expectations greatly though as I didn't see Clayface being one on the moniter coming. Hope Clayface isn't really dead though. So man cool stories for him in Batmans world going forward. Great show.

I haven't seen the finale yet, but, this is obviously the better worded explanation. What good would "destroying the world" be to anyone? I guess if you wanted to commit the biggest mass murder-suicide of all time, but...who would even know? I feel like a *lot* of this season was cut for one reason or another. I love all the characters - except for the princess, who's mostly worthless in current day - but, the story is pretty damn weak. I feel like current day (the story of this season) was a very small part of the show and just an excuse to tell the backstories. Also, 7 episodes? 7 is my favorite number and that infuriates me. Not 10 episodes. Not 8 episodes (like HBO does a lot for some ridiculous reason). 7 22-28 minute episodes. Maybe, just maybe, more could have been explained if there was an 8th episode to wrap everything up.

But you can see Gunn is keeping that card very close to his chest for some reason. Likely due to some kind of greater DCU Thanos-level threat type of implications. That part was terrifying! I think the whole show could've used more time, that's my only real complaint. I wanted more, but I loved every episode, especially the flashbacks. They were all brutal or heartbreaking, Nina's hit me the hardest. Is James Gunn calling the whole DCU's first chapter "Gods and Monsters"? It sounds like tragic monster stories and messed-up humans being the real monsters will be a big deal. I’ve watched many reviews and Easter egg breakdowns and no one has mentioned the Creature from the Black Lagoon reference. When Ilana was swimming and Nina was mirroring her just like the creature was mirroring Kay. Also we didn’t find out what was going on with the Queen, was she just that old or was Llana doing something to her which seems probable. I believe we haven’t seen the last of Nina because except for the Waynes, no one stays dead in DC Comics. ( Jason, Superboy Prime, Joker, etc.)

Just some thoughts. One, I had no issue with the Princess going on a swim, because I felt that was a reflection of her arrogance in the knowledge that she was playing puppet master and had become overly confident. Two, I wonder if the backstory of why the Princess was trying to do what she was is something they plan to reveal in season two. Three, I know many might find it lame, but I would love it if Nina actually lives somehow. It seems such a shame not to see her true power. I might be misremembering, but I could have swore there was some hint somewhere about how powerful she actually is or could be.
@rah02107 күн бұрын
The thing about the princess' motives being underdeveloped is this whole show is about supposed villains who to varying degrees arent that bad or at least have a reason for being the way they are. The princess just being evil was a balance to that. Sometimes bad guys are just bad.

I get some people need to have the villain motivation, but this show was more structured toward the character-driven storytelling. But Gunn also said it's just an aperitif, so the world-building was the most important part of the series, imo. and they part was done quite well and never felt forced.

The ending was extremely rushed and left a lot to be desired. Why was Nina admitted to Belle Reve, a maximum security prison, when she was never accused of doing anything of the others? Why was The Bride so eager, and even happy, to work with Waller after her botched mission caused the death of her only friend? One of the major reasons she despises Eric is the fact he killed Frankenstein, so Gunn didn't even keep his own parallelism The Princess' death is glossed over as if her security detail wouldn't have noticed the Princess dead minutes after the commandos left and blamed Waller as they made their way back to home base What the hell was Grodd doing in the vision? That was never expanded upon, and it's a shame that we have to wait at least 6 months for ANY kind of conclusion to the cameo fest that was in the show It was such a ball drop of quality from the previous 6 episodes

i think we were left with questions on purpose. i think the princess being a one dimensional villain was on purpose to leave us wondering why and how, i think season 2 will give more answers on how she got to know clayface and how grodd would have been involved

One theory for how they could do the Eric story line is time travel. Now obviously that can be annoying and overused and continuity ruining, but if done right, make a scene very cool and interesting that could lead to many other stories. What if in the first episode of season 2, Eric finds the bride. After a jump cut of sorts, he has finally found her. They do their thing and duke it out. But depending on their surroundings, meaning the context of the episode, what if they somehow get themselves to travel back in time a certain amount of time. The bride and Eric still fighting as that happens. During them traveling back we could see cool scenes through the history of DC lore. And eventually the bride gets the upper hand (both of them are, at this point, very far back in time) and somehow gets eric in a solitary state (headless, frozen etc). The bride gets back to present time while leaving Eric in the distant past, only for him to eventually come back later on and try to get his revenge and unleash all his pent up hatred he would have after being left behind by the bride all those years in a state where he could do nothing but watch the world go by. One error I can see in that theory would be Eric trying to source out help to get back to the present day, or getting help from his creator and potentially making it so that the bride never existed. They could use some device that Waller had locked away or while on some mission/trip they inadvertently run into someone with that power/ability to help them get to the past. Both for how they got there in the first place and how the bride leaves and eventually Eric leaves.

I think Waller didn't shock the commandoes because their screams would give away their position. And it wasn't posible for Waller to know where the creatures were at the time, or how their mission was going. Waller didn't want to start a war, but she also wants to keep her assets (Taskforce M) alive for future missions.

I don’t think that Ilana will stay dead. Does anyone else remember that ointment goo that the old lady rubbed on Frankenstein in his flashbacks? To me it seemed very similar to the stuff that turns Clayface into Clayface, and we’ve already seen him working with Ilana. I think she may have some clay powers too from that stuff, and that she’ll be the villain in Season 2, where they’ll go more into her motivations and schemes.

I thought it was great to depict a mother who is like that. People only want positive representation but the world is filled with such mothers and everyone pretends they don't exist. and btw such a heartwarming performance by the father.

They must have seen numbers early and green lit season 2 so I'm assuming it'll be part of that or flashbacks that were actually part of S1..... hopefully

Now that i think about it didn't Clayface as the Dr, validate Circe's vision? Wouldn't that be counter productive for the Princess' plan?

I'm pretty sure the lack of closure in each characters will be answered in the next season or in the upcoming series that they lead to. Like PM s2, or GL series, or CC s2. They prolly dont wanna answer everything in s1. They wanna leave a story for the new team

Clay face was only down for like a day or two. Its not been that long since he fought Rick. Its also why Rick is still down as well, this was all over the span of a week or less. No one has had time to really heal

This final episode is heartbreaking and yet a neat ending to the first season of creature commandos. I would agree to see why the princess wants to take over the world. As for my thoughts on the next season of creature commandos, will the bride be thinking about Nina? Would Dr. Phosphorus will ever touch a woman again? Will the Weasel be proven innocent from the murder charges on the children or will Nina be brought back to life?

I agree with all your points. I wish we got more backstory on why the princess wanted to take over to begin with, although I understand this will (hopefully) be explored in season 2. The show needed longer episodes, at least 30 mins. I did love the show but it felt a bit sloppy unfortunately

The fact that The Princess hired a shapeshifter, but let him walk into her castle in his monster form is ridiculous to me. He should've been disguised as a human, maybe one of the Amethyst Knights or something like that. I'm also not a fan of how both Rupert Thorne and Clayface died by the end of the series, they had so much potential to be featured in the Batman movies of the DCU.

They couldn't delve into alot of Ilana Rostovic plans as the events hadn't taken place yet as it was a glimpse into the future. Think it was more a case of taking over the world rather than setting out to destroy it. The bride laid out her true character before killing her I found that explanation enough.

Perhaps we will get all those questions answered in the Waller show? That’s just a guess.
@tclark69897 күн бұрын
I think the show takes place after Superman. It explains Flag's mostly white hair, and James Gunn has already explicitly stated that the timeline would not be linear (comparing it to Star Wars). It also would allow Clayface to actually be dead without causing any issues with the upcoming film. I don't think there are any discrepancies in the theory (assuming Economos is permanently crippled from that gnarly injury).
@vrika42807 күн бұрын
If Waller used the remote, she would have no idea on what situation they would be in. If they were mid fight or something, she could've gotten them all killed, or discovered (which also might have gotten them killed) if Nina was in the water already, and they use the shock, that could've shocked the princess as well. What is dumb imo, is why she doesn't have direct comms to everyone on the team. That would've made more sense, and you can play up the sequence the same way, just have Waller started to speak as soon the Princess takes the knife, but it was too late.

She wanted to destroy the world because it was strategically in her best interest. Maybe she was tired of her ships having to pay to use the Panama canal.
