31:53 Fun fact: you can actually press up on the D-pad to use the sprint as well. This isn’t mentioned in the manual or the game, yes, I checked both. There’s also another way to stun these guys: the ground slam. Yeah. This isn’t mentioned at all, and the only way I found out about this was because of some footage playing if you wait on the title screen long enough. But it does work.

Yeah, this video pretty much sums up my thoughts of this game. I used to be super nostalgic and obsessed with this game as a kid, but now that I'm a lot older, this game is the one among the Spongebob classics that I'm the most reluctant to return to because its overall gameplay is monotonous and drawn out in comparison. And as much as I don't like the Spongebob Movie game's abysmal progression requirements, at least that game is still fairly enjoyable from start to finish on casual any% playthroughs, whereas this game is more likely to put me to sleep over how one-note the gameplay is. I'll give this game credit for trying to be really creative and unique, but not even the wow factor alone is enough to really salvage this one IMHO.

I totally get that sentiment. This is the definitely the Spongebob game that thrives the most on the first go-around but kinda falls off on subsequent playthroughs. It's basically the Conker's Bad Fur Day of Spongebob games lol

what a coincidence, i just watched all of your other Spongebob videos yesterday and now there's a new one
@Baileography Жыл бұрын
Heh, that's timing for ya. Glad you're enjoying them though. Definitely gonna do at least a couple more but I might wait for the big 1000 subs to do the Activision games. I feel like a lot of people would find that funny.

I loved the video!! This game makes me hardcore nostalgic, one of those weird games I bought secondhand as a kid and played it for hours. Patrick-Man is my favorite platforming character!!
@Baileography Жыл бұрын
Patrick-Man really was the MVP of this game. Maybe one day Patrick will be allowed to fight another final boss lol

Great video. I agree with just about everything. I never want to play any level in this game besides Super-Sized Patty ever again but I respect it for going batshit insane with a big IP. EDIT: Least favorite level is probably worm purgatory

LMAO, Worm Purgatory, that's the perfect nickname for that stage.

this game holds a DEEP place in my memory, i remember loving it as a kid, not because it was any good but because it was just so interesting, with the dream concept really working for the seemingly random layout i also remember a very odd glitch were my game would seemingly randomly go from english to sign language, with no one speaking, no music and everyone is hand gesturing the story, it was so odd, weirder still is that all noise EXCEPT the sound effects were removed, it made everything so unsettling when it randomly happened
@alecjohnson50434 ай бұрын
There is no sign language you dreamed all this. Or your shit went mute and you imagined the hand signs

You forgot the actual ending cutscene that follows after the end credits, where Gary sees SpongeBob, Patrick and Plankton live out their day just like in his dream, before going back to sleep again.
@Baileography6 ай бұрын
Okay, that's fair. I did intentionally leave that out because I couldn't tell if that ending cutscene was meant to be a prologue to the game explaining why Gary was having those dreams or if it was the actual ending where Gary witnessed all these similar acts as some sort of prophecy deja-vu. I probably should've mentioned it but the video was long enough as is and I really didn't know what to say about it. To be fair, that last scene didn't really change my thoughts on the game or even just the story. I'd still say the story is one of Creature's strongest elements that just happens to have an underwhelming ending that was kinda forced to put the brakes on such an insane, ongoing climax.

Pretty good video my guy; been wanting to hear your thoughts on this one for a while now, while I personally say this game is almost on-par, in terms of quality next to BfBB, I genuinely feel you brought up a lot of good points to why you felt the game was average at best... To me for level ranks, Diesel Dreaming is the worst, Rocket Rodeo/Rooftop Rumble are genuinely the best; hope to see your review on Cosmic Shake real soon...
@Baileography Жыл бұрын
Glad you liked the video and it seems like most of the CFTKK fans thought I was pretty fair about it so I'm glad making the video as long as I did was worth it. And I did actually drop my Cosmic Shake review a couple months back. My video schedule kinda got thrown off with this video taking a lot longer to make but I did make a Cosmic Shake video only about a week after the game's release just to help get the word out. It's not a proper retrospective, it's only based off me finishing but not 100%ing the game. But I am planning on making a follow up complementary video to that next based on the completionist experience, bringing up some spoiler stuff that I left out of the initial review, and mentioning any other small things I happened to leave out.
@tphofficial64 Жыл бұрын
@Baileography That's fair I suppose, I only played/finished CftKK almost a month or so ago after only playing it once and giving it away when I was six because I had no clue how to beat the second level back when this game launched (just a dumb FYI, never played nor had a console until the Wii and the only games I had for it were Wii Sports, MP8 and some DreamWorks shit), definitely not a great game by any caliber but for a licensed/SpongeBob game, they went all out with this one even with some of the problems at hand; genuinely do wish to see more licensed games take this kind of experimental liberties with the IP they're based off and oh can't wait to see any of the future games you have planned to review, definitely fun to listen to while working

Back when i was super young but also able to play games this was not only one of many i had played, but it also scared the shit out of me. From the soundtrack to the looks of the characters in level one to even the cover for the game case pretty much had me telling my parents to get rid of the game. Supersized patty was the overall level that made me quit. with the giant krabby patty going after to crush or eat me and overall got me to stop playing the game, for up to the beginning of this decade. Though by the time i remembered/looked at more of the game online, it pretty much became the worst game i ever knew. Might sound dumb to say, but the nostalgia of me being scared by it was stronger than anything else. With the biggest reason being the ending. And i mean the after credits cutscene. Seeing spongebob dying/being eaten by the alaskan bullworm, was enough for me to hate the game. Being an adult now "and fully played the game a few years ago", i don't find it as scary. More so, unearving. And the ending still ruins any enjoyment i perhaps have had for it. But at the very least, its definitely not the worst game. Its not even the worst spongebob game, as there's plenty more to not think about.

If I've learned anything from watching video essays/reviews on old games from this era, its that the Wii kind of sucked. I never had one because Nintendo games had never interested me or my dad, but it seems like every time someone has too or chooses to play a wii version of a game they end up hating it so much more because of the wii's motion controls and weaker console. Kind of blows my mind how successful it was and how fondly people look back on it.
@Baileography Жыл бұрын
Yeah...if you're just looking at the shovelware then the Wii is probably the worst most egregious home console out there. It really was a money printer even for people who didn't care or didn't care enough. But if you were a Nintendo guy and did enjoy their own franchises, the Wii was the place to be. Most of the first party releases on the Wii were great and made a good name for motion controls. And yeah, the Wii was weaker in terms of raw graphical fidelity but games like Super Mario Galaxy or Kirby Return to Dreamland were still visually appealing thanks to their more timeless visual styles.

I adore this game. Nothing about it makes any sense. Literally nothing. I have never wanted to be a fly on a wall more than for the development of this game. Who’s idea was it? Who greenlit it? Who developed it? Do they have families? Do they still develop games? Why does this feel like a passion project and a rush job at the same time? Why on Earth is this a Spongebob game???

I don’t get the hype for Creature. I actually liked Truth or Square more, heck I’d even take RotFD over Creature…😅
@Baileography4 ай бұрын
I can understand liking ToS more. That game is definitely a more consistent experience and if I was just looking at both games in a bubble, I'd probably agree ToS is better. I think I and a lot of other people just appreciate Creature for the vibes and how many big swings it took- even if some of them were for the worse. But RotFD....I mean, really?
