I have a small garden. I look every day for any sign of these weeds and just remove them at least at or below the soil level so they can't get sunlight. Eventually they just give up. I did this for 3 years with thistle and it's gone. I'm working on the bindweed now.

Very useful indeed! Thank you so much for your clear and concise account. I'll now get to work on my stands (dammit). Greetings from Sweden!

Is there anything that’s particularly good as competition for bindweed? It seems to come up through pretty much everything.

I thought about mint, lol. A neighbor planted some and it went crazy and covered everything. At least mint isn’t a tuber, smells good and keeps pests away, can make some mint lemonade

What do you do if binweed is in your grass? Have been pulling this weed out for 5 years!

Thank you for producing this. I’ve also heard bindweed called field bindweed, hedge bindweed, morning glory, and creeping jenny. In southwestern United States, we have bindweed that can grow in sand. Can bindweed be tilled into sandy dirt to enrich the soil? Alternatively, is bindweed useful as a ground cover for erosion control or green manure?

Bindweed isn’t good for anything. It has tuber root systems that travel twenty plus feet, can grow through basement walls, under and over patios. Wage war when you see it because it is hard to eradicate. I’ve been fighting it for years-pulling it out, covering with heavy tarps, spraying with roundup
