How To Use Your Creda Debonair Spin Dryer:
After rinsing in the sink take your clothes and load them evenly around the spinner evenly. Close the lid and twist the handle to engage the lock. Make sure you have a bowl underneath the spout to collect the water. Your Creda Debonair will now start to spin the water from your clothes at 2, 800rpm. For cottons it takes 4 minutes, for lighter fabrics 2 minutes, for woollens check after 2 mins.
This is a later model of Creda Debonair with a half solid tub (it has a vane in the middle and top to extract the water, enabling you to rinse, now pour half a bucket of water over the clothes and move clothes about to thoroughly soak the clothes and repeat tp spin dry.

My Dad designed this spin dryer - it was the first domestic spin dryer made in the UK. I enjoyed watching - brought back some memories. Sadly, the Creda factory in Blythe Bridge has long since gone.

Hello Justin , thats great information, please let us know his details if you wish and how long he worked at Creda & your dads working life , ill add it to the website details . So did you have this model at home or other Creda products ? My gran used to say her Creda Debonair was the best house appliance ever with the British weather, for the first time you could get the clothes washed & dried on the same day whatever the weather !!

Your dad was awesome! That is a brilliant machine. I've been researching the current versions of these, they are a little underbuilt. It's such a brilliant idea, we put so much water into the hot dryer making it work way harder. And obviously this makes line or rack drawing much quicker.

Yep, we had one of those. I was born in 1958 and my mum used to do the washing with one of these. I guess my memory must have been when I was about 3 or 4 and I used to sit on the floor next to it as I loved the vibration as it span the clothes, and the air that would blast from the spout. I can remember my dad repairing the rubber spout when it eventually perished with the top half of one of my old red wellington boots. I guess watching him and loving all things mechanical set me up for life as I eventually became a research and development engineering manager. Happy days.

I wish we could get these today with this level of quality. It's a great thing and we're just starting to have them in North America. When I was a kids the comparable thing was a ringer with two rollers that you cranked. We were all scared of the ringer when we were little.

@@WeHadOneOfThose I have two favorite; the fist is the green Candy of which you can see a video, here on my channel, beside its blue German version twin sporting the Zimmermann brand (the Zimmermann version is actually the original the Candy version was manufactured by the Zimmermann company sporting the Candy brand by an agrement with the Italian company). The second is again a Candy spin dryer made to be istalled in the little Candy 45 (and all 40 series machines by Candy) in place of the agitator to make the machine closer to a twin tub, mainly it was used at the end of the wash and rinse cycle to have more water extracted from the laundry than it was possible with the manual wringer mounted on the machine so to shorten the drying time... There isn't a video of it yet because I am still working on it but I will post it soon... :-)

@@WeHadOneOfThose No spin dryers are not common at all it Italy, a little more in the North area where I live but for sure not in the south. Consider that I live by the Lake Como and in this moment there are 37°C and there is little wind so you can well imagine that if you spin dry a laundry load at 3000 rpm, such as in the Candy spin dryer, by the time you put the last garment on the line for drying the first things been put on it could actually be already totally dry. Maybe in winter time here in the north would be usefull but considering that during the winter the temperature goes well below the zero (it's normal having the temperature dropping as low as -15°C or more depending on how high one lives on the mountain) hanging outside to dry laundry is not a good idea, the laundy would freeze rather then dry so most people have a tumble dryer to dry laundry in winter time. There is also another thing because people do not use high speed spin dryers, Italians are used to have everything ironed, from socks to underwear to every single item in the laundry batch, because of this high speed centrifugue cause more creasing, very hard to be pressed out, so most people set their washing machines to no more than 6-700rpm to prevent excess creasing in the laundry... we are a bit obsessed by perfect clothing and linen and tablecloths because yes, we sitll use tablecloths at every meal no "paper serviettes" in the avarage italian home...

Perhaps somebody might be interested in my new laundry equipment ... My new Hisense Inverter is doing nicely, apart from the terrible filter design, that looks like it was designed by an idiot! ... I've had a laundry disappointment today! I bought a Spin Dryer. It arrived with the motor shipping support smashed. It also has several manufacturing defects, scratches and a split in the drum rim. Several reviews said these dryers leak, and I saw a few drops of water inside the motor compartment! I've never seen a Spin Dryer since I was a kid on my mother's Twin Tub. I was surprised that there is no "inner tub" to contain the drum (as in a Washing Machine). The outer casing IS the inner tub! Also, no springs? The works suspension is three bits of rubber. There's a plastic mechanical linkage from the switch, running down beside the spinner to a switch in the motor compartment. An out of balance load could break it? It all seems very "shonky!" Like a factory second, too? The induction motor is nice though! I'll have to see what the seller says? Are all modern Spin Dryers shonky rubbish?

Are all modern spin driers shonky rubbish? That is the question. I've been shopping for one online and all the companies have reviews by a small number of people saying it arrived broken. The panda and ninja spin sound a little better than yours but I haven't looked inside them obviously. That really sucks. If you find a good one let me know!

I'm thinking of buying a modern version by English Electric. It also spins at 2800 RPM. My washing machine spins at 1400 RPM. Will the 2400 spin dryer remove significantly more water or does the law of diminishing returns mean there's little difference and it's not worthy of the purchase?
@WeHadOneOfThose
@WeHadOneOfThose 2 жыл бұрын
Good afternoon, a large diameter drum front loader spinning at 1400rpm will probably give you the same water extraction from heavy cotton towels, you are right with the law of diminishing returns, if you do a lot of hand washing it could be very useful. I know many people with a spinner for handwashed items and the odd single towel or swimware.

@@WeHadOneOfThose Thanks for the reply. I have bought one and it arrived yesterday. I have tested it using a M&S synthetic bobble bath mat which my machine refuses to spin at 1400 RPM although it's always part of a load. The spin dryer worked great and I now intend to use it for everything after a 600 spin in my washer. Hopefully, this should extend the life of the washer and result in more consistent spins.

In this particular perforated copper drum the water would run out of the base and spout, others like the first Servis and Hotpoint have solid spin cans and you can fill with rinse water before spinning out .
