I played this song and my grandpa and he started to cry and then he said that song brought good and bad memories he served in Vietnam in 66 and 69 but when this song first came out he got news that his cousin was killed in action in Saigon which is now Ho chi Minh City

Thanks Marty. I'm 62 now. Sure wish you was around when I was a kid playing records at half speed trying to figure out chords and leads. Then we'd buy the sheet music not realizing it was arranged for easy piano. At least we got the lyrics.

I'm over 40 Three months ago, I woke up one morning and decided I finally ready to learn how to play guitar. Progress is slow but I'm doing it. I study your videos, play them over and over. It's to the point where, I hear a song I like on the radio and think " huh, I wonder how Marty plays it". ❤ thank you!!!!

Hey Marty , having seen other guitar lessons on you tube I find that yours are far superior compared to theirs ,you add details that the others don't , such as how to do walk downs and other little tricks I've learned so much more and really wish I can master the guitar and I've been trying for years more than I can count maybe someday I will but like I said I've learned so much more by watching your videos thank you so much for the lesson I really appreciate it !

@@adamron8686 you could say it struck a cord but until you've died and come back and you loose your kids and your missus because you didn't remember them and then finding that the guitar helps exercise both sides of the brain and it works better than any drug given by the doctors to help me find my kids

I am a musician mum with a 12 year old that is now educated in the ‘oldies’ and the important classics. I have you to thank because I play them songs on guitar and in the car but when they see it played by ‘Marty Swartz’ they now think it’s cool. Lol. This is why I sub here..I got the walk down by ear but the "Nook's and Cranny's" I'd a been much to long.. The strum pattern up \down\Chuck is a must or this song is bare. Another great one....Salute!!!

.46 Nylon makes this so much easier.. Best thing I ever did was buy a assortment of picks.. Example:"Elvis --it's now or never" .46 mm pick a MUST!!!!...Worth the $10 bucks..
