LYRICS: When dreaming I'm guided to another world Time and time again At sunrise I fight to stay asleep 'Cause I don't wanna leave the comfort of this place 'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape From the life I live when I'm awake So let's go there Let's make our escape Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay? Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets Although I would like our world to change It helps me to appreciate Those nights and those dreams But, my friend, I'd sacrifice all those nights If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same The only difference is To let love replace all our hate So let's go there Let's make our escape Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay? Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets So let's go there Yeah, let's go there Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay? Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets Can you take me higher? To a place where blind men see! Can you take me higher? To a place with golden streets!

No it's because of there Christian lyrics, same as with Evanescence. Same exact thing except Evanescence came out as being Christian but Creed never did. A lot of Creeds lyrics are Christian and wonderful. I'm a 37 year old black woman in America and I have always loved both Creed and Evanescence because of there darkness and transparency. I am a Christian who recognized the lyrics of both these band's right away. I've always loved for this and I always will.

Lyrics When dreaming I'm guided to another world Time and time again At sunrise I fight to stay asleep 'Cause I don't want to leave the comfort of this place 'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape From the life I live when I'm awake So let's go there Let's make our escape Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay? Can you take me higher? To the place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To the place with golden streets Although I would like our world to change It helps me to appreciate Those nights and those dreams But, my friend, I'd sacrifice all those nights If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same The only difference is To let love replace all our hate So let's go there Let's make our escape Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay? Can you take me higher? To the place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To the place with golden streets So let's go there So let's go there Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay? Up high I feel like I'm alive for the very first time Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine Set up high I'm strong enough to take these dreams And make them mine Can you take me higher? To the place where blind men see Can you take me higher? To the place with golden streets Can you take me higher? To the place where blind men see Can you take me higher? I really hope Creed realize how far reaching their music was. I was 15 years old when I heard this song in 2000. Suva, Fiji Islands. I never knew of this type of music and this was my first rock song. We did not have much technology back then so when my mates and I hear a song we tell each other in school the name and sing some lines from it. Then those who hadn't heard the song kept an ear out. I wasn't the first to hear it and I remember going to school and my close friends were so excited "bro! you HAVE to hear this song Can you take me higher!" We got blank TDK tape cassettes and waited patiently by the radio until Higher played and we would quickly press record. I loved this song from the very first second. That tape would make so many rounds in school played repeatedly on Walkman. Of course rock was a very unfamiliar genre in Fiji so it quickly turned out that my close friends and I were a minority loving this new band and genre of music. It made this song and band more special to us. Music videos were a rarity too then so naturally we did not see the music video for Higher for several months. When we did see it on an MTV recorded vcd we were just sat there frozen and I remember being so emotional and extremely happy as we finally put faces to the vocals, guitars and drums. Seen it hundreds of times since. Discovering Higher gave way to other rock bands: Splender, BonJovi, Staind, Lifehouse, The Calling, Vertical Horizon, Foo Fighters, Fuel, Matchbox 20, Limp Bizkit, Incubus, RHCP, Third Eye Blind, 3 Doors Down, and so many more. (1 of my friend's Dad worked in the USofA and he would send us NOW rock cd compilations). I was on the bus home when the news came on radio that Creed had broken up. Cried all the way home. Called my friends and they had heard too. We grieved for weeks playing Human Clay, My Own Prison and Weathered on repeat. So funny looking back now.10 years on from this song I had managed to move to the UK and the fates were kind, went to an AlterBridge concert 2010. Mark Tremonti was always our favorite band member & we loved that he brought the remaining members to form Alterbridge & continue to give us fans Creed-ish music. I stayed out in the Southampton winter cold waiting outside Guildhall for about 2 hours after the concert for them to board the tour bus. Only about 10 of us fans were left when they finally came out. They were the nicest people in the world.Their appreciation was so genuine. The same thing that happened to me when I first saw this music video happened when I met Mark Tremonti. I had so much to say, but alas, I choked and as we shook hands I could only manage to blurt out "it is an honour to meet you sir". He replied "thank you so much man, that means alot". There were 9 of us who were that "Creed boys" group back in school and 2 of us were blessed enough to have left Fiji and met Alterbridge and Creed since. Over the years I have always had this song on me, from tape to cd to usb to smart phone. Thank you so much Creed for being the sound track to our school years and a constant go to even to this day. Higher remains my favorite song ever

Saw Scott 2 summers ago in a small venue-played with his band all creed hits. Sounded and looked fantastic. Hopefully after things get back to somewhat normal Creed will tour again

I’m pretty sure Scott started doing Christian music which is great; I’m not knocking it. I am a Christian but the music is not my jam; just not something I would turn on and listen to, to chill out.

Creed will always be relevant because of their lyrics about our creator and His son...Jesus Christ.

Surely they deserve better credit than just praising the religiousity of it? It's not just that that makes their music enjoyable to you I'd hope?

That is exactly what I got out of this song. I will turn 83 next week and this is the first I've heard Creed....I'm impressed. Hoping and looking forward to going up to the real "Higher" soon to be with Jesus the ultimate High Priest and Savior.

When dreaming I'm guided to another world Time and time again At sunrise, I fight to stay asleep 'Cause I don't want to leave the comfort of this place 'Cause there's a hunger, a longing to escape From the life I live when I'm awake So let's go there Let's make our escape Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay Can you take me higher To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher To a place with golden streets Although I would like our world to change It helps me to appreciate Those nights and those dreams But my friend I'd sacrifice all those nights If I could make the Earth and my dreams the same The only difference is To let love replace all our hate So let's go there Let's make our escape Come on, let's go there Let's ask can we stay Can you take me higher To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher To a place with golden streets So let's go there (so let's go there) Let's go there (Let's go there) Come on, let's go there (come on let's go there) Let's ask can we stay Up high, I feel like I'm Alive for the very first time Said up high, I'm strong enough To take these dreams And make them mine Said up high, I'm strong enough To take these dreams And make them mine Can you take me higher To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher To a place with golden streets Can you take me higher To a place where blind men see Can you take me higher To a place with golden streets
