It was about mid to late June years back, knowing the water was getting low and warm in my trout streams, not wanting to travel far for that, I looked local. Found a tiny creek close by. First cast off a bridge 25 ft up from the creek, about a 15" smallmouth. Next cast, another. Back to the car immediately, get waders and gear. Walked downstream about 200 yds, walked back up to bridge fishing. Caught 30 fish, combo of smallmouth and rockbass. In a creek no more than 15-20 ft wide. It looked more like a typical drain in farm country. Great finding fish in small places.

One of my favorite small creeks - I've fished that one for over 20 years. Always productive and the fishing picks up in the fall. My best from this creek was an 18" smallie. Some huge channel cats can be caught here as well. 👍

That big smallmouth you caught was really nice but I like them all! Watching you catch fish makes my day every time! The other day I got excited over a 5 inch trout because it was natural born in the river. Got it all on video too along with my first trout on an inline spinner! Only the 2nd trout I have caught on artificial bait.

yeah, the oxygen content, DO, Dissolved Oxygen, becomes low in water water especially when algae is growing and removing oxygen also. But grasses produce oxygen in sunlight so some (LMB) will position there ..also shady under there. I suspect trout and other species adapt to DO conditions some how too. I just RTB from 4night Public Land fishing and camping and what do I do?? Watch you tube videos of other folks fishing....i may have a problem....Really enjoy yours....
