PRE SPAWN BROOK TROUT!
In middle September I went on a mini adventure to explore some new water. I was not disappointed by the high elevation creek as the water was clear and clean. I found many brook trout, some of which had their spawning colors. I hope everyone enjoys this fly fishing adventure!
For those who don't know brook trout spawn in the fall. When the fish spawn they turn into some of the most beautiful fish on earth! A lot of people try to catch the fish pre spawn (so they don't interfere with the spawning process) to catch the fish at their peak colors. The brook trout turn bright orange, red, and green and are fabled among fisherman on the east coast of the US.

Nice job jon !!! Great fish!! Yeah saved by the dropper!! That’s the dilemma.. Totally my favorite rig!! My last, oh 4 trips I forced myself not to use a dropper!! No telling how many more I would have caught?? But I love the feel of just the dry and the control and how tight I can get into objects and challenge myself on difficult casts.. Oh and I’m glad I’m not the only one that asks why am I fly fishing when I get all tangled up!!! I don’t love that part!! I have experienced the same coloring as you in the same time frames, some are some are not? Some big some small?? No time or reason to it?? Looking forward to October for full color for the first time to check it out!!! I’m going to finally give up days of bow hunting to fish this year!! Good luck, BTW love the hoodie!!
@hardmanfishing

I almost always throw exclusively dry flies... but this time of year when the hatches start to dwindle a dropper can easily save the day. It is definitely worth fishing in the fall... but it's tough to give up bow hunting for it HAHA! And I'm glad you enjoy the hoodie!!

@@hardmanfishing watching your videos actually inspired me to do more adventure fishing, I've got a pond with decent brookies about 30 seconds from my house, I've caught up to 12 inches out of it, I'd been fishing that with a lot of success, but seeing the fish you get on a creek trek, I've started more stream fishing, managed my first brown this year after getting inspired to river fish, and hit about 15 that same day up the one stream in about 2 hours. I'm hooked on the fly line now, spinners just collecting dust
