John I grew up fishing East Tennessee but Elkhorn is my home creek now. My friends own that parking lot, it’s at a church they have converted into a music venue. Funny story about that spot you put in…I took my brother there one evening so he could catch his first smallmouth. On my first cast I hooked into a nice one that was fighting hard. We were bank fishing and I had lost some weight. The fish was taking drag when my pants fell around my ankles. I scooted around naked as a baby but landed it. Thank you John for the spirit of your videos. I miss East Tennessee so much I could cry.

Love it! Reminded me of the time my two brothers and I were playing some 2 on 2 wiffle ball with my dad. My dad was a pretty hefty man and on one of his "at bats" he hit the ball and began to run to first (and only) base. You guessed it. His pants fell down. I think we had to stop playing at that point due to the intense laughter that ensued! Thanks for helping me to remember that magical moment! Blessings!

The North Elkhorn was my favorite place to fish when I lived in Frankfort … 50 years ago. Delighted to see the smallmouth are as plentiful as ever. It was also an excellent fly fishing stream for rock bass and longear sunfish as well. Thank you for bringing back some happy fishing memories!

Whooooo wheeeee there, Brother John! That had to be the most, that I'd ever seen you have to drag your Kayak over low parts of a Stream, in my life! I can't even begin to imagine, just how tired you were, after all that. I'll bet you slept good that night. Looks like you had a great time, though...and at least you were able to catch fish, even if they weren't exactly as big as you wanted them to be. Have a great weekend, Brother John!

I have to say that I don't remember ever seeing a video where the faces of two men on the water showed so much joy! Like two little kids just enjoying life! This was truly a beautiful place! My favorite part of the video was when you said: "So naturally I threw in and caught the one that he missed. That's what good friends do." Perfect! 🤣😂 Then Matt casts and catches the biggest fish of the day. Can you say "Divine Retribution?" Great collaboration!

This is my local creek, been fishing it for 20+ years. You need to try the lower section. From where you took out to the Peaks Mill Bridge/AW Parking. Catch it at about 350 on the USGS gauge and there is very little whitewater. Much better fishing and much bigger fish (22" PB from the section mentioned). From Peaks Mill to where US 127 crosses the river is 2nd option for a trip.

Out next to the hatchery is deadly late summer with shad moving up in the creek. And if the water gets up and stained you’ll have big catfish come up from the river chasing the shad.

Went fishing in a creek today. Saw some trout but spooked them because it’s up in the mountains. Didn’t get one yet but it was amazing to see them
@ronaldshank7589Ай бұрын
That's the one thing about Ol' Mountain Trout... they're finicky eaters...annnnd it seems like they get spooked really easily. It's like ya gotta maintain a super-low profile, when you're trying to sneak up on 'em... which is half the game, right there. The second half of the game, is trying to guess what they're eating, and/or WHEN they're eating! But-If you can nail those two items down, then you just might be able to catch a nice mess of 'em!

It took me a minute to figure out creek fishing after moving from lakes and the ocean. Its a different game. Mepps like spinners and square bills are the ticket for me. you will catch 3 or 4 out of the same school before they stop biting sometimes. I don't see much over 12 inch mark unless its a carp or shad myself. I fish they Guyandotte in WV and its loaded with smallies and large mouths. I walk it so I don't fish the deep parts im sure there are some big ones in the deep areas.

That's probably the worst section of that creek you could have chosen to fish, not to mention the lack of water. Plus, that creek has been terribly over fished and abused the last 15 years. So glad we have much better fisheries of that type here in Kentucky that are still secret.
