Now there’s a prevalent urban legend online that’s called “every copy of Mario 64 is personalized” and the theory states that there is some artificial intelligence in the cartridge of Mario 64 that will change the game for each individual player. Often adding various creepy scenarios to certain copies. In fact we have 3 creepy stories to look at today of very odd and almost paranormal things that have happened to people while simply playing through their favorite Mario game. Wario apparition.

I have a storyabout my personal creepy experiences with Mario 64 I had a dream where I was in the castle but the castle was different it was dark and horrifying when I went to the basement of the castle where the lethal lava land painting is I then saw monster versions of king bob omb the giant whomp and the giant wiggler as I was terrified of this I ran to a room that wasn’t in the normal game I found something and to this day I can’t point my finger on what exactly it was but it made me feel extremely dizzy and strange i then saw a shy guy npc in a different room but it made strange noises and acted like the normal toad npcs and that’s where the dream ended. I don’t exactly know what it meant but now when I play Mario 64 I feel strange and like something is watching me constantly. If you do another part of this it would be amazing to see my story included thanks 🙏

I instantly thought of Majin sonic for the first one (like, the creepy sonic Easter egg/urban legend) as the screen says something similar for sonic: “Fun is infinite with Sega Enterprises” or something like that. I wonder if that had something to do with the creepypasta as inspiration.

All I know is that there’s no possible way that appeared in an official Mario cartridge since I don’t think Nintendo wants to creep out its players and fans that much. I agree. That last one sounds like something a 12 year old would make up. Had I been that kid and it had happened to me, I'd probably be so spooked would've unplugged the game system immediately, and, since this is a 12 year old we're talking about in whatever year this supposedly happened, they'd probably unplug the _TV_ instead of the game system itself and not realize it right away, and _that_ could be horrifying _if_ that 3rd story had been real, which I sincerely doubt. I tend to go _waaaaaaaay_ off the track of the point I'm making, and I always explain as much at the end of most comments I make on the platforms I frequent the most

Isn't it curious how every game has its own "unsolved mysteries" and creepypasta type deals? The 3rd one, is a concept I've heard of before for different games Players claiming that certain games are cursed or possessed under certain circumstances or if played at specific times. It reminds me of so many "exe" crrepypasta stories I used to watch, hear about, and read as a kid. But when it came to testing things like that, I never exactly got anywhere.

I have a story. It might not be so scary but it just feels good to share things you know? So once I was playing super Mario sunshine. I thought it would be fun since it was my first time. I was playing when my family was away. I was playing on the Nintendo switch version because I didn’t have a game cube. So I booted it up, and the intro cutscene played. I was excited for this, but when I got off, the goop in the landing pad looked like blood. Not like the pinkish orange mix that already exists in the game. But a red color. Me, not knowing this was not normal, because I did not watch any KZbin videos at the time. I kept on playing like normal, but when I reached Fludd, they were not there. Mario was controlled by himself, as I tried to search for Fludd, he kept moving in one direction. Forward. He kept walking to the sea, where there was gooper blooper waiting for him. Fludd was on the ground, with a pool of ink and blood around him. The only music playing was a silent sound with a bell, when Mario was disassembled by the bloody gooper blooper. It played the game over screen, but instead of saying game over, it read, “GET OUT” now I knew this was not normal at all. I turned off my console, but it turned itself back on. I saw a faint shadow of Mario, but he was holding what seemed to be a knife. The game quickly turned back to normal Mario sunshine. Mario had Fludd, The harbor was still messy, and the portal to the first world was right in front of me. I had zero shines, so I decided to go in the portal. Not knowing that I should have one shine at this point. The world was named, “SAVE YOURSELF” and I heard a creak in the door, a lot of noises go off at night, but not one like this, It sounded like a ghosts shriek. I turned off the console immediately. It turned on again. Then right after, a picture frame on the wall tilted. I ran over to tilt it back. I ran back to the console to turn it off. But then I tried to just go to the Home Screen, and it worked. It worked. But the title of the game was changed. “THANK YOU FOR LISTENING” I felt relieved, as I slumped back on the couch, and looked back at the screen. The name had changed. “SUPER MARIO 3D ALLSTARS”

@shadowfoxx5153 Its that weird liminal experience feeling a lot of nintendo 64 games had. They had the tech to render 3d, the player and environment. But not much else. Enemies and stuff had to be used sparingly. So they always had this weird empty feel. Im old enough to have been a teen when the n64 came out. I always disliked their 3d games even back then. Like mario 64 and OoT are ok, but they just feel barren to me compared to something like LttP.

Once I was playing Minecraft and I went in my underground base. But when I was cooking meat in the furnace I heard a villager crying and they don't do that in the game. The stories I heard was there was a wario head in diar diar doc stage and if you go to the diar diar doc entrance a floating wario head and said YOU WANT FUN! WARIO SHOWS YOU FUN…after that he starts chasing you and legend says if you get chased by the floating wario head for a while you should go insane and end up dying

How anyone actually believed the personalized copy myth is beyond me. The game came out in the 90s, AI wasn't advanced enough to do that, heck, it isn't advanced enough now and that would cost unimaginable amounts of money that even Nintendo doesn't have.
