Welcome back to Virginia City, Nevada! Unlike our last visit to the historic silver mining / tourist heavy / ghost town, I thought today we'd wander the home of the actual people of Virginia city themselves, the historic Silvr Terrace Cemeteries.
Populating a huge hill just north of town, this Necropolis contains very nearly everyone, the good, the bad, and the ugly included, from the old Comstock days of Virginia City Nevada.
Mark Twain isn't buried here, but several other notables are, and something........ something....... is NOT DEAD in here :0

I went to this cemetery about 15 years ago with my great grandfather who has since passed away. It's a pretty emotional experience going through your videos and finding this. I'm a huge fan of what you do. Thanks, Justin.

That place looks familiar. I have some 8 mm home movies of Virginia City, taken 54 years ago during a family trip. It would be something to go back and match the landmarks with those in the movie, particularly the tombstones. I was only a year old, so my memory of the trip is vague.

Brett Jeffries Your movies may very well be useful in the current restorations of these cemeteries. People are returning headstones but the historical society doesn’t know where to put them.

As morbid as it might seem I love to visit old cemeteries. Many of the headstones give a snapshot into the lives of those that have gone before. It is disgusting how much vandalism of these old sites occurs. Thanks for sharing.

Loving the video Justin! Awesome job. Sometimes we do have to reflect on life and get reminded that life isn't guaranteed like you said. You did it in your happy go self way that it's not morbid but just a good friend reminding you of the truth. Keep them coming buddy. And I'll sure be helping out in the Randomland cause.

I really enjoyed this video. I too like old cemeteries and reflecting on who went before me and that someday, hopefully not to soon, I too will be buried somewhere and hope that those I left behind will remember me. I especially liked seeing the wild mustangs! I'm a horse person from way back. Love the idea that they are wild and they haven't all been round up. Great video Justin!

i like your thoughtful side. this vlog made me think about my grandfather, who died in wyoming in 1934 in a card game shootout. i hope he's buried in a cemetery like this one and people still stop and pay their respect. my grandmother moved to california with my mom (who was just a baby) right after it happened and i don't know of anyone in our family who went back to visit his grave.

Yes good respectful video when I walk through cemeteries in England it does hit you that the headstones there all show a life of a person who was once a living breathing person the worst for me is children's graves at the time of their demise it could have probably been prevented by how advanced medicine and treatment has come I always get a sense of sadness on my journey at these places. .....

So part of the cemetery burned down. And that's why you see a lot of blank spits. People are buried there but the markers are gone. My great grandma and tons of other family members are laid to rest there.

Are you familiar with the mining term "High Grading"? When the miner would come-up out of the mine, they would have to strip down and shower in front of the company "gun-thugs". Reason was sometimes miners would try to "suitcase" pieces of rich ore for themselves. What happened next was a quick trip to Boot Hill.
