These are so pretty! I always feel torn between wanting to have keepsakes in storage where they won't get damaged, or having them out/continuing to use them (which usually brings me happy memories of the person). I think this is a great way to be reminded of your loved one and have something with you all the time!

Some people put the jewellery in a little shadow box (deep photo frame) inside a cupboard if they can't look every day. I think I'd want to be worn ;) Nikki

@@KeepsakerSupplies That's totally understandable, congratulations on your baby!!! A distant family member of mine is giving me the honor of putting her pets ashes in resin once they come back next week, it will be my first time handling ashes, I'll be putting them in a pyramid and I'm a bit nervous, and there's just not many videos on how to do this...do I just swirl them in like adding color?
@KeepsakerSupplies
@KeepsakerSupplies 3 жыл бұрын
@@donnar9864 although ornaments aren't really my speciality, I used to make them quite often. You need epoxy resin so follow the tutorials for "orgonite pyramids" and just treat ashes as you would metal shavings etc. My pet hate though is where artists mix ashes into resin then pour that into a mould, because it ends with wasted ashes. I prefer to pour the epoxy into the mould then wait till it's the consistency of marmite or molasses, then add colour and ashes. If you add them too early they will sink which will give you harsh lines and lots of clear spaces. If you wait, then they become suspended in the resin as if they're floating. Please be extra careful to wear PPE when using epoxy especially if you're allergic like me Nikki

Hey Nikki Would love to know how you colour the inside of a bead using acrylic pigment? And what exactly is acrylic pigment? X
@KeepsakerSupplies
@KeepsakerSupplies Жыл бұрын
I use high quality art paint, the acrylic in tubes but it's quite a tricky technique. Hoping to do a video soon for everyone :) Nikki

No I haven't! Thanks for letting me know. Do you mind sending me a link on Facebook please? I know that in the UK they have to accept any ashes, there was a court case forcing them to accept them due to a family fighting over them. I hope it's still allowed. Nikki

What do you do when you send a proof picture and they dont like the bead? When you make a new one what happens with the bead they didnt like as it still has ashes of the loved one
@KeepsakerSupplies
@KeepsakerSupplies 2 жыл бұрын
The same as you would if you made a mistake or got a large air bubble etc. You MUST return every speck of ash to the client :) You can charge to set the extra beads in silver but you should make them aware that you'll return it unset if the don't want to pay. I've seen a few artists who charge people extra for blanks like this or charge to return ashes or just don't return them but I think it's dishonest. I find that over half of clients will ask for any spare beads to be set with a core and the other half just want them returned as they are. Hope that helps Nikki

that is a ridiculously small amount of ashes you put in.

Hi Hazel, it's hard for me to detect tone on comments on the internet, especially as an autistic person, but I will try hard to address your comment with respect. A human adult after cremation will be perhaps one litre of cremation ashes; if someone wanted to keep a large volume of ashes they can choose an urn. If they want to keep their loved one close in jewellery, then I don't think it matters how much is in there, so long as the correct ashes are in there. If you use too much ash then the resin pieces don't have enough resin and can be brittle, and the colour would not be the same. I hope that helps. Nikki

These are exclusive on my website, on Keepsaker Supplies :) If you click on the video description there are links to all the supplies. It might be a little arrow or it might say "show more". You can buy the whole thing as a kit, or if you have resin and tools already you can just buy the mould and cores Nikki x
