You can use a UV top coat, I have them on the Keepsaker Supplies website. But usually if you've cured enough and waited until it's completely cooled before touching it shouldn't be sticky. Try other brands of UV resin but keep a bottle of top coat handy. Hope that helps Nikki

What uv resin do you us? Will they turn yellow
@KeepsakerSupplies
@KeepsakerSupplies 4 жыл бұрын
All the links to the supplies I use are in the video description along with a full blog. We sell the UV resin used in this video and don't find it yellows often, unless a client misuses it (chemicals, too much sunlight etc). We remake around one piece a month over at Tree of Opals, out of perhaps 60 pieces made. Some people prefer to use epoxy and that's completely up to you, but the layers will take you days; if you pour it all in one go the ashes will sink and you don't get the nice depth Nikki

Can i add more ashes?
@KeepsakerSupplies
@KeepsakerSupplies 2 жыл бұрын
Hi James, making jewellery with ashes is more of an art than a science. If that's the look you're going for and your clients like it then of course you can. I don't use a lot because of customer feedback over the past six years where they sometimes find the ashes to distort the colour. If you add too much, it can prevent the piece from curing or make the finished stone grainy and not as strong. Keep experimenting and find what works best for you! Nikki

hi i was told i can just pour the resin into the ring, no need to make cabuchon?
@KeepsakerSupplies
@KeepsakerSupplies 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you definitely can do that but there are so many benefits to using a mould over filling. Here's a little blog I wrote with the pros and cons bit.ly/FillVRub Please let me know if you think it's helpful or there's more I should add. I'll do a video at some point with some filled settings myself too Nikki

@@KeepsakerSupplies thanks for replying, its tricky to find any tutorials without cabuchons. your blog was great!! thanks! It all makes perfect sense. I actually use cavers mill as well. But you get more selection when you use the open backs as well. I have ordered tape for them. I get what you mean about the pressure to get it right first time, thats a major downfall. I just cant see how i can get every shape and size of cabochon and it not cost me a fortune either xx

Is that human ashes or plants or wood or tabbacco
@KeepsakerSupplies
@KeepsakerSupplies 3 жыл бұрын
I've said that in this video I'm using human ashes, this video is made with the family's permission. You could work with plant ashes but I'm not sure that would be something customers would want to pay for! Usually they send in their family members' or pets' ashes to be preserved Nikki
