Hey Kevin hows it goin! i really enjoy watching your videos 😁 thanks for sharing your experience. I just got my learning permit and going to start trucking school from tomorrow. btw i have a question if you can help. i was wondering how you decide which lane to drive your truck in on a freeway! I always feel nervous when i think that i might end up in a wrong lane which leads to an unwanted exit. I can see in this video that you are driving mostly in the second to the left most lane or the Middle lane on a 5 lane freeway but in the cdl manual it says that we are supposed to drive in the right most lane or the lane next to it? is it the Gps that tells you what lane to drive in or is it just a visual perception to just keep an eye on the exit lanes and just avoid them when on a freeway. Can we get pulled over by cops if we drive on the second to the left most lane on a 5 lane freeway?
@TheJoyofTrucking2 жыл бұрын
Hey there!!! Glad you are enjoying our videos!! Congratulations on getting your CLP!! Here’s Kevin’s answer: Some highways have signs that say ‘trucks use right two lanes only.’ So stick to those when that is indicated. Some states, like California, also have some designated truck lanes, so watch for that. I prefer the second lane from the right. The right lane has vehicles entering and exiting continually which would possibly require me applying brakes often. The right lanes can become exit lanes. You should really only be in that center lane of a 5 lane highway if you are passing another vehicle. If you observe the signs and mirrors you should be just fine. Also…remember, if you do end up in the wrong exit lane, don’t panic and jerk truck over. That’s dangerous. Stay safe. You can usually just exit and then come right back on.

Kevin started at 62cpm plus 2cpm surge pay. You’ll need to speak to them to see what account you’d be on and what your experience is, etc. There is a range of cpm’s. Kevin had already tested for sleep apnea over a year ago. He didn’t have to do a sleep apnea test at orientation. Not sure how they decide who needs to. Another viewer did have to do one at orientation. So they do want to know.

OTR 48. Videos run a bit behind. In real life we’ve been as far as California to the West and New Hampshire to the East. Some really nice long runs. Much better than Werner. Averaging over 3000 miles per week.
@smidkiff702 жыл бұрын
An observation. It seems that there are quite a few more cogs in the works with Crete than Werner and it seems they micro manage you a bit much. Definitely seeing some stressful situations your having to deal with, plus extra tablet work too. No judgment here at all, but as a viewer, I can definitely tell the difference In how laid back of a situation your into.
@TheJoyofTrucking2 жыл бұрын
There’s definitely a learning curve and some things are more labor intensive. But, they are constantly improving. They just recently got the co-pilot, though it comes with some issues, just like with Werner…because it’s the same one. We’re learning that there is flexibility with routes and even fuel stops. And that it’s totally ok to turn down loads if you see that they are not efficiently using your time. So we think there will be improvements in the stress you’re mentioning. Good to ‘see’ you!

@@pd5149 We hope you are fully recovered from Covid!!! We’re you a company driver or o/o? If company who did you work for? Where do you drive out of? Theses videos are just the first few loads. I lag a bit behind with the videos. I can tell you that in real time it’s definitely a huge improvement from Werner. Kevin has had loads already out West to Texas, L.A., Phoenix, SLC and all the way up to New Hampshire in the East side. And lots inbetween. He’s averaging over 3000 miles a week and is quite happy with things so far. It’s not perfect and he hopes to run even more, but we are happy with our decision. There will continue to be videos so you’ll hopefully get more insights into Crete. If you have specific questions that we don’t address in the videos let us know. @@TheJoyofTrucking I drove for May Trucking for 5 years...out of Florida. Did a lot of the PNW winter driving etc. Yea covid put me in the hospital with pneumonia for a week Took a while to recover. I got some other stuff going on but will be getting back out there later this year. Glad y'all are getting longer runs and it's going well so far. I always went crazy when they gave me short runs...I prefer the long out west loads. Most of the loads we had were always 1000 plus miles. I might go back there depends on the $$$$.
