See How Railroad Crews Get To Their Trains. Trains Passing At My Favorite Railroad Crossing. Reading Railroad Heritage Unit Locomotive Leads A Train Around A Very Tight Curve At The CSX & Norfolk Southern Interchange. Mixed Freight, Coal Train, Grain Train & Intermodal Train In Hamilton Ohio On The Baltimore And Ohio Railroad Toledo Sub.
A railroad transport service dropped off a crew member at a CSX coal train that had just arrived. While the crew member was standing by his locomotive a second CSX train approached in the opposite direction. After that train passed the first train went across the railroad crossing. I didn't get any runners at the crossing today.
I moved a couple of blocks south to the interchange of CSX and Norfolk Southern to get the third train. This is a Norfolk Southern intermodal train led by the Reading Lines Heritage Unit. The train is going around a very tight curve to leave the CSX line and enter the NS line to Cincinnati. Look how powerful that locomotive is to power the train all by itself!
Then we go back to the Heaton Street railroad crossing to get another train. I got there just in time to catch a Norfolk Southern grain train headed south to Cincinnati. This is a heavy train that is also using the CSX tracks for a short distance. All of these trains are in Hamilton, Ohio near the abandoned paper mills.
Filmed Saturday, April 27, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

This was a good railfanning day in Hamilton, Ohio. It appeared to me that they only added one crew member to that empty southbound coal train heading to Cincinnati, Ohio. The northbound mixed freight that passed the waiting train had a nice variety of freight cars on it. The southbound Norfolk Southern double stack train with the Reading Heritage Unit looked nice as it took the curve off the CSX tracks to the Norfolk Southern tracks toward Cincinnati, Ohio. If that southbound Norfolk Southern train of loaded grain cars were longer, it would have needed a DPU. Thank you for uploading this video for us to watch, Jawa Tooth!

Hi Brian. (I searched your name, Mr. Tooth) I really love your Hamilton, Ohio (your favourite railroad crossing) for the scenery, those wonderful old warehouse buildings and the quiet nature of that part of town (except for amazing sound of the trains...and I love the trains.) Sad that the owners of that beautiful old building to the left- with the brick siding and boarded-up arched windows- with the ripped steel corrugated siding flapping in the wind; that they don't take the time to fix that siding. It would give the old building the dignity it deserves. Anyway, nice spot. I watch you pretty much every day, but on my smart television, Brian. Do you automatically get credited a view from KZbin from when I use my TV instead of your KZbin page? Or do I have to go to my laptop each time, get your page and click the like button. I am subscribed. The smart TV wants a complicated subscribe procedure that I just don't understand. Hope you are getting credit for my views. Thanks, Brian. Oh yeah, love your new dog and cat door. So funny how you have to teach them how to use it when the instructions are half a page long and pasted right in front of them. I bet they will all love that door. :) Marcel from Saskatchewan.

Yes, I still get credit for the view when you watch it on your television because it is still linked to KZbin. I bet that soon those old buildings will have something done to them because there are going to be huge hotels built next to them. I wish they were still used like I remember them before I started my channel. It was nice when they spotted boxcars on one side of the buildings and covered hopper cars on the other. I wish I had video of that. Thanks for watching my videos!

I think they gave the conductor a ride back up to the head in because I think the defect detector called him with a hot wheel so they had to do a roll by and to keep them that conductor walking. So far they gave him a ride back up to the head end, because I only saw that one man get on the train And it was the conductor cause the engineer was already on it but I do that a lot down here in my little town of Pearl River Louisiana. I helped them out all the time.

You always wonder what the hurry is when trains go by so fast and the answer is simple the crews only have 12 hours on and then they have to switch so they are trying to get as far as they can in the 12 hours they're on their shift so that's why they are always going so fast.

Trains were about as busy as a bee trying to pollinate pollinate flowers Four full size trains and watching the tail end of that coal train you just know the pedestrians and autos are mumbling come on come on just a few more feet. Where the Reading unit took the sharp left turn it looks like those bridges were put in within the last 25 years. With that appearing to be the only bridge in the area I can just imagine the traffic congestion especially when the mill was open. Once again the Queen City delivers railroad action

One more thing there is train wheel refubisher in Washington, IL. I have hauled a few loads of train wheels in & out of that place. One load was from Pittsburgh, PA to Washington.

We have BNSF, NS, IOWA INTERSTATE that move mixed freight, CATERPILLAR, & KOMATSU products in & out of the Peoria IL area. I hear train whistles all day & night. Love it.
