In today's video, I talked about Crew Resource Management (CRM), by the end of the content you will understand what CRM is and why it is so important in aviation.
Crew Resource Management is the effective use of all available resources inside and outside your plane.
In the old days, the human factor was the main cause of aircraft accidents. After the introduction of the Cockpit Voice Recorder and the Flight Data Recorder, the authorities were able to investigate in deep every accident that occurred in aviation.
The Authorities, after the investigations were completed, find out that the real root cause of the accidents, most of the time, was the fact that the flight crew was not able to deal with the situation they find themself in.
So the real problem was that the communication between the crew members was not consistent so the Teamwork was inefficient.
Back then, in many cases, the Authority level of the Captain was very high inside the flight deck, so the rest of the crew was just executing the Captain's commands most of the time.
By introducing the CRM (Crew Resource Management) the communication inside the plane between the crew improved drastically and, the authority level of the Captain inside the flight deck went down encouraging the co-pilot, and the rest of the crew, to speak up if they spot something that was not right.
