This shows how worthless the batting in cricket is. No reverse swing in ODIs, field restrictions, broader bats made the batsmen weak. No one has patience, nobody wants to grind. Test cricket is not dying, Test cricketers are.
@No3N3MY2 сағат бұрын
Yeah, the intent to grind on the pitch has been vanishing quite rapidly. Especially with global leagues happening all around the globe. The run scoring in shorter format is becoming easier by each passing day , thus they find it extremely difficult to even trust their defensive ability in the purest format of cricket (which basically has faded away).

in a pre match interview Marnus talked about replication what Pujara did on previous tours ... presenting dead bat , leaving balls , tiring out the bowlers , taking some body blows but I guess he forgot one small thing... that is scoring runs 😂

Letting Marnus Labuschagne survive on 0 turned out to be a blessing in disguise for India. His time at the crease disrupted Australia’s momentum, slowed down the scoring rate, and gave Indian bowlers the chance to settle into their rhythm. As wickets began to fall at the other end, Labuschagne’s innings ended up costing just 2 runs..a small price to pay for regaining control...

Absolutely spot on observation by Gilly. Test cricket has suffered due to T20 mindset or probably technique. We don't see individual double hundreds, or 500+ team scores that often. That too when we don't have the ghastly fast bowlers and crafty spinners even pitches are not that hostile.

I think one thing to learn from today's batting performance for India is that our Indian player should play their natural game, not too defensive, must not miss the bad deliveries and punish their mistakes. Because runs have to come from somewhere. They're leaving the good deliveries and its fine but they were also missed the bad deliveries too especially one of those deliveries going in leg side or full length deliveries outside off stump. Any delivery which is not targetting the stumps or on full length, they should go for it. It's better to take chances on such deliveries rather than playing shot out of desperation after too many dot balls & throwing away your wicket eventually. Also, this type of batting will also push Australian bowlers on backfoot and ruin their line and length.

As for KLs dismissal, watching live the knick made a woody sound as heard from stump mic. The bat hitting the pad seemed to happen after a fraction second of the knick which the snicko is incapable to differentiate. Only hotspot would’ve solved it. KL may have knicked it but wonder what influenced the umpire to rush to overturn the decision.

GILLY SPEAKING TRUTH ❤ - In such challenging conditions - i think Test cricket will/could not last for 4/5 days........ Because now batsmans are more of aggressive in most formats & the pitches are also friendly to them and at the same time bowlers are making their hard yards & shaping their weapons in order to match in this batters world........🧐And which helps them to be brutal in these type of wickets........ ✨

17 wickets in a single day at Perth is astonishing... But if the same thing happens on the subcontinent tracks, it's a disaster.. the cricketing world starts speaking about poor pitches curated to suit home teams..... It’s a 2nd innings shootout now. Australia will come hard bowling in the second innings and look to blow India the same way India did it to them. Can the top 4 of India, Rahul- Kohli in particular can get one partnership at the top? That will decide the match. The pitch will have pace and bounce throughout and chasing anything over 200 will be very tough considering how Bumrah and company are bowling.

The art of batsmanship is dead in the game of cricket. Useless T20 stuff is the sole reason for this. The technical deficiencies and lack of temperament in today's batsmen is so glaring. If the ball swings a bit, seams a bit, spins a bit, slight bit of variable bounce, etc today's batsmen just can't bat. Just flat wicket bullies. The art of leaving balls outside off stump, getting beside the line of the ball, playing the ball under the eyes, playing the ball in the 'V' etc have all died.

Very good post game analysis by Gilly. I could feel the Indian batters were playing the Australian quicks better than vice versa. Though its too early to say anything a lot will depend on the second innings performance of the Indian Batsmen. Hope they post a good total and not let the bowlers down. Both teams hv Batsmen with big reputstions but with little or no returns. Can see a couple of batsmen hanging up their boots after this series.

When the sport already has only 8 nations competing ..the lack of high level players who are strong both mentally and physically from the past is making it less competitive and more predictable.. these days it’s all about India, Australia, and England
