Ah memories... I was in Ronda, Andalucía, withheld my mate Dave MacDonald. It was December 1999. We are both Queenslanders, but I wanted lee in the team, but Dave, being a hard core qlder winter Michael kasperwiez, a decent fast bowler. Dave said lee would fail, I said he’d take a five for. I remember us going to an Internet cafe and seeing the 5 for.., it was satisfying

Let's be honest...brett lee is a brilliant fast bowler, soon to be legend... Indians had some decent pacers but they never had support/they were the supporting cast.. bcoz of spin-reliance. And so we are just catching up...Bhumra/Shami/Saini,Nagarkoti etc and many to come..

I think Brett Lee's average keeps him from being considered greater. This is explained by his speed, imho. He took 300+ wickets in under 80 tests. He was a wicket taker and a great exponent of how to play cricket hard but fair

I think in Tests as 3rd option, if the conditions are good for bowling - McGrath and Warne get to feast, if things get tough then Lee was used more. He's def. a better bowler than his Test avg.

The Aussie fast bowlers of today don’t have a inch of what the Aussie fast bowlers of the past had. Even Mitchell Johnson, so good at home, so poor everywhere else (barring one tour to SA). Brett Lee was one of the all time greatest genuine quicks around the world in any condition.

As good as he was, I think injuries and the "Steve Waugh philosophy" towards him as a bowler conspired to reduce his legacy to that of a very good bowler from potentially an all timer. The fast, short and often wild style was all Waugh. Lee was more than that as seen in the beginning of his career and in glimpses at the end too.

I remember playing against him about 2 weeks before this. You cannot fathom just how quick he actually was. The keeper was a pitch & a half back & taking everything on the rise above his head. He hit one of our guys so hard you could see the Kookaburra logo on his chest.
