Crime in Billings Montana

So far, compared to other major metropolitan areas, Billings is a much safer place. I've never felt threatened in Billings; just use common sense & lock your car.

Crime stats in Billings are skewed by a few high crime areas, but it's easy to avoid crime in Billings. Downtown and Southside are the worst. The further northwest you go in Billings, the less crime there tends to be.

Except in midtown suburbs where I’m from which look and should be safe areas and we had two murders last year, so…. Billings crime is god awful no matter where you go. What about the stabbing at the mall? Just because the west end is associated with higher property value does not mean there isn’t violent crime there. Downtown can be scary as hell, thoguh, as someone who worked and walked there daily

@@alisonmcalistair i used to live in billings and thought it was safe, that was in 2019. Is it super bad after 2020? I had no idea billings was so dangerous until i looked it up on google.

"everywhere has crime" while this is true, the caliber and type of crime you get is entirely dependent upon the demographics of the area. There is a difference between crimes of passion between people who know each other and someone's grandmother being murdered during a home invasion, or in a parking lot for her carkeys.

I don't live in Billings I live in Lincoln Nebraska even though I have family that live in Bozman and Billings. Living in Lincoln there are small spots area's of criminal activity but overall not bad at all. Everyone who lives residential has a door cam and or including local automatic security mechanisms in place, Neighborhood Watches are Very Active this also includes a neighborhood Facebook watch from who's tabby cat is sitting on the hood of my car in the mornings, to there has been a sketchy vehicle spotted in the area. Local law enforcement also keeps they're ear to the ground. We get the Metropolitan crowd that think were a Mayberry kind of place, its more of a community envoriment, if anything else. They get a subtle and it is a subtle, reminder of reality. I plan on living outside of the city in a more rural setting and would only go to Billings for shopping, Costco, Sams and Winco
