When I was 13, my mother joined a cult. A year in, she wanted out, so she ended up selling me to the leader. Yes, I said she sold me for a whopping $1000 and an apartment. It was the most horrific 2.5-year life. I was able to get away after my father reported me missing. I went on to graduate a year early and went to nursing school. However, there's not a day that goes by that I'm not affected by what I went through. I caught HPV from him. I had to have a full hysterectomy at age 23. I sustained many injuries that caused arthritis and I just lost a kidney from damage I sustained. But, I survived. He went to prison and is now living in Texas.... forever registered as a se/ offender. My heart goes out to these women, from one survivor to another. EDIT: TO CLEAR UP THE DATE ISSUE. I meant the next 2.5 years of my life was horrible, not that I was with the cult for 2.5 years. There was the trial, I was homeless, I was addicted to pain medication, and I just couldn't seem to find my way. My story came out in the Farmington Daily Times, April 19, 2009, as part of the "Take Back the Night" series, for those who don't believe me. There is a picture of me and a lengthy article that tells part of my story.

My heart goes out to you, as I cannot even come to imagine what you have had to endure, when so very, very young 😞 The betrayal of a parent is the worst thing to have to live with. But from your post, you have the spirit of a warrior, to have gone onto Nursing School… As a non doctor, and as just a suggestion, regarding your arthritis, one of my friends, who has inherited this arthritic condition, now takes daily, Green Lipped muscle extract, in order to help alleviate her arthritic condition. I now have a dog who is almost 14 years old, who started to have major mobility issues six months ago… but since then, I have been giving him Green Lipped muscle supplements, and my little boy now has a significant improvement in his mobility. :-) Perhaps you might look into this, and try these supplement’s for your arthritis…which I hope may help you. There was a documentary made in 1993 for the Discovery Channel titled "Conspiracy of Silence - Abuse in Boy's Town". These people have always been above the law. I'm willing to bet JE was not in this by himself, he was one main player possibly ending up as the fall guy. Every one of those men who continued to go numerous times on trips with him or on his plane knew exactly what they were doing. I'm also willing to bet he wasn't the only one. Predators in powerful positions have always hurt people and the dirty judges simply slap them on the wrist only when they must. Thank you so much for pointing out how hard it must have been for these girls to come forward against a lot of very powerful people. I was abused by my uncle, and when I spoke up I was not believed for decades and was punished and called a liar (my uncle went on to abuse my younger cousins as a result) so I know how hard it is to speak up against anyone - let alone against powerful famous people. As for Prince Andrew he hasn't just lost his status in the Royal Family, but he also lost all respect of the people in the UK. He used to be a popular Royal, but now he is universally disliked by everyone. As for money, he will always be very comfortable, but definitely not as rich as the folks in the circles he used to move in. He is no longer wanted anywhere.

You're absolutely correct about these types of people, particularly pedophiles, not being able to rehabilitate!!! I had a friend who worked for the state (which I will not mention) as a psychologist to pedophiles who had served their time in prison and were back out in society. And I asked her one time if it was even possible that these people were able to not see children in that sick way, and she said no, they just learn to control their impulsive nature. They're maladaptive, and just learn how to control themselves so they can live in freedom (with legal limitations) among the rest of society. She said they know that it's wrong, but due to whatever (?), they just are the way they are. How she could even do such a job was beyond my comprehension, but I guess somebody has to?!

The urge is always there but they can learn to either control it or hide what they do. I worked in an environment where I came into contact with a few of them and some were repeat offenders. One in particular, had to have an escort if he wanted to go anywhere. I assume that service was withdrawn at some point because he reoffended twice and is now in prison for a very long time. Apparently, he wants to be chemically castrated which just proves how much he can't control himself.

This has honestly been one of the worst things I have found out in life. That young girls were systematically put through this for the richest and most powerful people on the planet. Child abuse on an industrial scale. Knowing that these folks will never serve any real justice and, like you said, how terrifying it is for any of these women to come forward considering the power differential and the high profile of the people who participated. When I was very young I learned how hard it was to keep up with a lie and I could never handle the humiliation that comes with getting caught. To me, it's simply not worth the effort. I'm 53 and I'm still grateful for the weight that is off my shoulders for never having to keep up with stupid lies. Even though always being honest _does not_ work out very well, in this world, I'm still glad that I am. It's the one thing no one can take, from me, and everyone that knows me, knows they can trust me. I just don't see how people can reach this guy's age and still lie through their teeth. It's sad. I agree. Its so friggin hard to keep up with a lie. And if you're lying to someone even remotely competent they'll usually pick up the little inaccuracies in your stories. And lying to someone who knows you're lying is a humiliating experience. Just telling the truth is so much easier.
