That skit reminded me of when I was 12 playing Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 on PS1. I was playing for hours on end and rolling my thumbs around the buttons on a digital controller. I developed giant blisters on both thumbs, but that didn't stop me, I drained the blisters, peeled of the dead skin, slapped on some band-aids and played throught the pain...Good Times!!!

@Jesse__H
@Jesse__H 4 жыл бұрын
@Michael O Callaghan I'd be interested to hear your corrections of those phrases! I have my MA in English lit and I teach English for a living. Of course, that doesn't mean I'm infallible, but I don't see anything particularly wrong with the grammar in that comment. Some diction changes, like "totally incorrect" instead of "totally wrong," but that's it, and that's more of a stylistic choice. Since we're now defensively picking apart each other's youtube comments I will mention that periods always go _inside_ quotation marks. 👉😉👉 Of course that's not a big deal, none of this is (which was the point of my first comment btw).

Some people just want to pick a fight I guess 🤷‍♂️ Pretty sure he didn't read a single thing I said ... guy just really doesn't like the idea of people talking about language choices. You could say he _overlooked_ the content of my comments. Boom. Dad humor. 😇

I played the arcade version of Two Crude Dudes on this Data East collection game on the Wii with my niece. We played through through the whole game since we had infinite continues and such. Anyway, when we made it to the spider boss and it grabbed me and took me up off screen. When the attack was done, my poor character fell to the ground as a pile of bones. When we saw that, we both screamed 'HOLY SHIT!!!' at the same time. Ugh, what a day!

When I first saw the footage for "Super Spyhunter" I thought, "these are pretty crappy graphics for a Super Nintendo." When I realized it was NES, my jaw hit the floor. That scrolling speed and smooth sprite movement with no slow-down, along with sprite warping effects. I didn't know the NES could pull all that off.
@philipvalenzuela4969

There are slowdowns but.. still it's very impressive that they pulled it off on NES... Great game. But also great difficulty.. especially the bosses.. you might bite your controller in frustration.

The problem for most ports of Taito arcade games is because most of them was done by companies subcontracted by Taito. In the case of MD/GEN port of Growl, it was developed by I.T.L., who also did the MD port of Bonanza Bros.

One game I almost never hear about is EVO for the SNES. Back when I used to work at EB Games (pre-GameStop), we had all of the consoles set up in the back and could play any used game we wanted at lunch time. I played hundreds of games, but most only for a few minutes. One of the few games that kept my attention was EVO. I looked it up on eBay recently though, and because it's fairly rare, it's very expensive now.

Another fun fact about Growl. The giant centipede from the ending is from the Darius games, of all things. And the name of the poacher's organization is the same as the name of the evil aliens in Darius. Belser Animal Protection Organization vs Belser Army. Why Taito decided to tie a beat-em-up about saving animals from poachers, to their shoot-em-up series about blowing up evil aliens in space, the world may never know.

Please let this be a long series!!! Please please please! So much nostalgia here! I still remember Dragon Warrior. Loved that game back in the day when I used to visit this friend to play this, Final Mission and the Japanese original of Shatter-Hand or whatever that ones called.

Great episode Joe, I used to find these titles for $5 or $10 at thrift stores and flea markets; I would perpetually ignore them. It's amazing how expensive they are now.

I have a minor suggestion for the layout/narration of Game Sack ... Near the end of every game's showcase, what I wish is that you'd mention the name of the game one more time, or maybe throw the title graphic up again. I'm watching Game Sack, and an interesting game comes on, but I've always gotta rewind to see what it was called cus I miss it the first (and often only) time you say it. Just a tiny thing that I've been meaning to mention. Love the show Joe, you're the man.

Has this channel ever covered Nanotek Warrior for the Playstation? That was a very fun shooter (at least for me) with stages consisting of tubes that you 'fly' (more like race) either inside or outside of, shooting enemies and avoiding obstacles. My favorite aspect was probably the jump mechanic, which you could control mid-air to better dodge obstacles.

Another overlooked game is "E-Swat" on the Sega Genesis. And "Rise of the Dragon" on the Sega CD. Both were GREAT games. But, hardly anybody heard of them.
