Yanfei being budget Klee is what makes her much better imo. Longer range, smoother gameplay, and don't have to wait on a rerun... ashame her existence is overshadowed by Bennett and Xiangling but at least she's not regarded by many to be a weak unit, so that's something.

I maxed both Yanfei(c2) n Klee(c0) both with 10-10-10 talent and although Klee has higher raw dps potential, Yanfei's crit instance that deals extra damage is nice but does necessarily make the dps window higher than Klee. Just the fact that Yanfei has more range and c1 gives her resistance to interruption makes me opt to use her more in the overworld😌

@@Noinked except for the charge attacks. klee can ignore the stamina cost pretty often, and her charge attack animation is soo much better. you can cancel it almost immediately and it will almost always come out. and her walk cancel makes her autos pretty smooth as well, albeit it's more annoying to pull off

As someone who uses C6 Yanfei and C0 Kokomi together, I would agree that Kokomi's Jellyfish isn't consistent. You have to know the right timing to use your Skill and Charge attack or else, you get the usual vape than reverse vape.

It’s so helpful how you include early AR artifact sets! I remember when I was in early game looking at character building guides was frustrating because almost every guide only recommends 5 star artifact sets I couldn’t farm at the time :’)

To be fair, you shouldn't spend resin on farming artifact domains before AR 45 unless the battles become too difficult for you while only focusing on weapons, character levels and talents. Don't cling too hard to set effects or "good substats" and just level artifacts with a fitting main stat. You'll want to turn them into exp for your 5star artifacts later anyway. Level Flowers and Plumes first because the percentage-based main stats make more of an impact when you already have high stats. Percentage-based substats are always better since the scaling on the static ones is just too horrible, though.

honestly though, its a mistake as a new player to even bother with sets to begin with since they will be so easily replaced. as a new player you can literally just slap whatever glad/wanderers artifacts you have and fill the rest with 4*s with decent rolls. wont even take a few weeks to start replacing them.

At least in my opinion, as someone who has played both before (played Klee on a friend’s account, and now Klee is benched for Hu tao by him lol), I would definitely use Yanfei over Klee. She has better range and smooth animations which makes her so fun to play. I used to want Klee to complete my kiddie team, but now, I’ve completely changed my mind!

Tbh I agree with you bcs I'm a Klee main and I'm tired of reading "yAnFeI iS sO mUcH eAsIeR" like bruh they have different playstyles and teams, I do prefer Klee over her bcs dps and I do find it fun and smooth to animation cancel but hey I don't go around saying Yanfei is budget Klee and she will never be as good for me. She has a special shield niche at C4 that makes her an amazing support that rivals Zhongli. Klee truly competes with Hu Tao, and she does lose the dps war bcs Klee burst don't stay off field while HuTao is a big Vape/Melt hit.

Yanfei is honestly such a fantastic unit. She may be a 4 star, but she feels SO much smoother than Klee, and also lets you attack from a very safe range. I love her with Beidou personally for dealing with mobs. Yanfei’s attacks don’t have the greatest AoE, so Beidou’s burst can help a lot in that regard, especially if your Beidou is C2. Also, the tracking on her attacks is absolutely bonkers. She’s a godsend if you’re having trouble with more mobile enemies like the thunder manifestation.

Yanfei has been one of my main since her release. She's my second 4 star team to 36 star the Abyss. Since national team being my 1st, I run her on a melt and overloaded comp with Fischl/ Rosaria/chongyun, Diona, and Sucrose/Sayu. Would be nice to have a cryo Xingqiu or cryo/hydro oz. Since Xingqiu is already paired with Xiangling. I can't wait till Thoma to come out though. I need another Pyro for Pyro resonance.

I find comps with Rosaria and Barbara help tremendously with applying elemental reactions consistently. My personal choice for Anemo proccing is Sayu, since she can deal pyro damage, then reposition at a distance. An underrated aspect of Yanfei is how good a distance she can attack with her projectiles. She can use her seals to mitigate the stamina use of her dashes, allowing for better positioning. With Yanfei's sheer damage output, there is little reason to rush. Feel free to capitalize on her ability to move about the battlefield and spam her normals. Her elemental skill also comes out particularly quick, giving quite a bit of incentive to use it even when you have max scarlet seals. Typically, you want to use Yanfei when your enemies aren't actively hitting you, so a good character to pair her with is Beidou. Beidou loves absorbing damage and provides a shield buff with her burst as well. When enemies are throwing too much to really retaliate, you can call in Beidou or Rosaria's elemental skills to give you more tempo. Lastly, I have to admire Yanfei's versatility. While she is mainly a DPS, her elemental skill can activate or trigger pyro very quickly and powerfully, making her an excellent closer. Her shield can absorb pyro damage efficiently, making her useful even in domains with pyro enemies. Yanfei is quite useful for more than just spamming stamps, but I mean...man, is it fun to spam stamps!

I've been playing Yanfei ever since she first came out in ZL banner, i think its really unfortunate that a lot of players dont know about her potential (since shes 4* pyro dps and she came out long after Diluc/Hutao/Klee, i guess noone wanted to lvl up/invest into another pyro unit). Couple of notes: if youre using XQ as her support, her rotation will always be N3C(even with ult) because third attack will apply rainswords for charge attack, but hydro aura will stay(so your CA will vape). Also if youre using C6 Diona, sands choice will probably be Atk anyway. Thank you again for spreading the word about Yanfei!👏

thanks for pointing that out, I tried her with xingqiu once and had a hard time vaping with her ca, i thought i was doing the n3c comble, i'll try it again today. Another thing is that i have to get close to the enemies to use xingqiu's e and it's easier for yanfei to get hit without a shield. I've been using her with fischl and really loved how fast and easy they both apply the elements and the aoe explosion.

I have a Shimenawa's Yanfei and I can say she doesn't really need her burst with the set and the CD of Shime and her skill always gets you 100% uptime on the passive if you wait just 1 second before skilling again.

I think Shimenawa is pretty bad on Yanfei. Her burst helps her dps a lot. You get like a 33% charge attack bonus, plus the extra seals gives more damage as well. If you have c4, it also gives her a shield, which she desperately needs if you don't have Zhongli.

@@beanswater yep, depends on the game style. Yanfei's lvl 8 burst and the Shime Set gives the same bonus of 50% so I feel like on Burst mode all the time with the Shime Set. Except the burst only buffs Charged attacks. So that's why I decided to go with Shime Set and only burst when doing the final shots especially on Maguu Kenki Floor 12. I also always run her with Diona or Zhongli.

I too run Shimenawa Yanfei. It’s a great alternative if your pieces happens to be better than your Crimson Witch set or something, but it of course falls behind in a real Vaporize team. However, Shimenawa is perhaps her best set in a overload comp featuring Fischl, Beidou, and Bennet. It’s like Fireworks except there’s actual fireworks and it works surprisingly well since Yanfei has exceptionally long range.

If you have either Fischl, Beidou, or Raiden, you should try the overload team. It's very fun. I originally use Fischl, but when I got Raiden, I changed them. Raiden is best for Yanfei overload. Make sure to put a shielder for Yanfei if you do overload team, since there's often accident of being self-electrocuted at wet place, or blown away by overload caused by enemies or surrounding area.

Hello! Relatively new Yanfei user here after pulling her in the Childe banner. My friend and I played Co-Op one time. I had Yanfei with a 4-piece Crimson and my friend used Mona (sorry I don't know what artifacts he used for her, but just know that my friend has a stronger build and account). I think with Yanfei's Charged Attack and Mona's Burst, we dished out at least 150,000 damage (the best we had peaked at 300,000 after some tweaks). Really fun character to experiment Pyro reactions with! Plus, I just love the mage-like design with the catalyst. In my solo team, I use her with Raiden as a sub DPS. The Overload is not as powerful as the Vaporize reaction with my friend, but the staggering effect helps keep enemies at bay. Really excited to experiment more compositions with her! 🔥

I've been maining yanfei since she came out, and I've been running a 4 pc crimson witch but I'd really like to experiment with the Shimenawa set. In particular, I'd like to try replacing the pyro cup with either more attack, or more EM. Since yanfei gets a lot of pyro bonus damage, especially with Kazuha, it seems like diminishing returns. I'm leaning more towards an attack goblet since I get EM from my c6 diona. none of the shimenawa pieces I've gotten have nearly the same substats as my crimson set though so it's gonna be a lot more farming before I get to test it. oh, one tip I have on building/rotations: don't neglect building her skill up as much as you can as well. if you've applied cryo/hydro to an enemy before switching to yanfei you're gonna want a high lvl skill for that burst damage.

I have been a C6 Yanfei main since Ayaka banner, but I started using her since her release. I can say that this is the best Yanfei guide I've watched. You explain her kit technical and detailed yet is subtle and not overwhelming especially for new Yanfei users. Keep up the good work!

Lol, same case as me. I do get Ayaka as well, and I put her as sub-dps with Yanfei as main dps, it sounds weird, but it's fun play. Add in a shielder+healer like Diona, and electro like Fischl or Raiden, it just damn good play and comfortable team for me.

Thank you for this video! I didn't really know what team to place Yanfei in, and you broke it down very nicely and explained how she would work best in different teams! Also enjoyed the part talking about her rotations, mentioning that it's a bit flexible with 2-3 normal attacks before a charged, but if you have c6, would 4 auto attacks just be better? I assume yes, since you would react on your first hit, and your last auto, then a charged, but idk. Thank you for making an amazing video!

Nice guide! I have been maining her since her first release and it was insta love, her playstyle is probably my favorite among the casters. Managed to have a good 4 piece wanderer and with the dodoco tales her dmg is so satisfying :D

with dendro out, i think it buffs yanfei rly good cos of the reactions and personally i like to use a kokomi, dendro traveler and zhongli for the team comp. i may switch out of the build for another onr as baizhu's coming out trm...like a xingqui, baizhu and zhongli/ any pyro for res. or smth like that

I know it's not possible to everyone, but Raiden works really well with Yanfei! Raiden's Elemental Skill triggers with every attack, and since Raiden's CD is pretty low, it's a really solid combination. Put them together while farming friendship, and damn, what a team! Sadly I needed to change Yanfei since her friendship reached 10. Can't wait to put these two together again!

That's some amazing analysis and a comprehensive guide. Yanfei has been my main DPS and carry for the entire game. She is fun to play with stamina management the only downside.

The weakness of using Yanfei is to aim for consistent reaction. While Melt and Vapor give you the best damage output it's actually hard to time it so that you will vape or Melt with Yanfei strongest attack (E, Q or Charge attack) and not wasting the hydro on normal attack. Overload on the other hand is way more consistent but it lacks the oomph. But ironically I found that this actually let her be a great burst swap with her E. You can for example pop Mona bubble with her E and switch again to other main DPS. Her E actually have pretty good multipler and thus deal respectable damage. Alternatively if you have multiple hydro or cyro applicant that can apply wet/cold fast enough she actually can pull up ridiculous burst damage in seconds by combination of her Q + C + E + C which I managed to do using Ayaka Burst on the 2 mil Lego-bot on abyss and melt the bot in one go in his vulnerable mode

C1 Yanfei user here, I love her in my main team of Kaeya, Fischl, and Noelle. She does so well with Kaeya’s cryo application and especially with Fischl’s Oz (overload ftw hahaha). Noelle saves her butt a ton since she’s a catalyst user who stands still on charged attacks though generally she’s pretty squishy so the low hp talent Noelle has that puts up a shield is a life saver when she’s on the red (I just suck at dodging). Her stamina consumption can be a problem at times but her big numbers with elemental reactions can easily overlook that. I’m just glad I’ve had her since Ayaka’s banner (that’s when I started and now AR 45) and she definitely carried my genshin experience. Happy to see videos on using her full potential and I even thought about changing her artifacts now with this vid. Hope others will just have as much fun with her!

Although this is 5 months old, I would like to add a very niche situation where energy recharge sands is more viable and that is if you run her on Memory of Dust with a shielder and especially with Bennett. You will have an overflowing amount of Attack℅ that an EM (If you use reactions) or Energy Recharge would be better.
