Welcome to the Corona Virus Chronicles... Tim is now self-isolating, and presenting his videos directly from his apartment, via a web link.
Tim has a number of toys that will create a pattern when a sheet of paper is passed through the mechanism.
The first one creates thin stripes on a sheet of paper as you turn the handle, and the paper is passed through the rollers. Rather elegant.
Tim then uses the same device, but with a sheet of aluminium foil instead of paper.
The next toy creates a wavy design. Tim uses a piece of pink paper, and gets a very decorative effect. Then he tries the aluminium foil in the same device.
Then we see a device that creates a pattern of stars. Stars should be yellow, so Tim uses a sheet of yellow paper. That works quite well. Finally, Tim tries a piece of foil in this gadget - silver stars! Quite a busy design.
Finally, a device that looks a bit like a large stapler. Place two or three pieces of paper in the jaws, squeeze the handles, and it will crimp the pieces of paper together. However you can separate them if you unpeel the paper. Lihit Number 6 is the name of the device, and it was made in Japan.

Search for Japanese staple-less staplers. Quite a few companies produce those, the products are much lighter and more effective than the one shown by Tim. They can bind together around 10 pieces of paper at once. Save staples and make recycling a lot easier.

Would wetting the paper work better ? Especially with the stars
@ozonesama
@ozonesama 4 жыл бұрын
Good question but I guess it mostly depends on which kind of paper you're using and how much you are getting it wet. I fear that many average paper sheets would be easily torn to pieces if they had absorbed too much water, so perhaps just spraying a little amount would work?

I think that the only reason that the foil doesn't play well with the crimpers is because it's rebelling against Tim's abominable pronunciation of it. Aluminum, four syllables. Ignore Samuel Johnson. He didn't know how to speak English at all.

Hi. In the U.K. we spell it as Aluminium. That is why he pronounces it that way. Have a good day www.amazon.co.uk/Baco-Classic-Aluminium-Length-Width/dp/B00FRI8N36/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=aluminium+foil&qid=1622445876&rdc=1&sprefix=alu&sr=8-3
