The people who try to stop the democratic process from happening are the real threat. Democracy means will of the people, not liberalism.

I haven't gone back to view the the scene, but it looked like a Los Angeles class attack sub rather than a Boomer. They would have to go way north to Washington or east to Georgia to film Boomers, instead of 120 miles to San Diego where Pacific attack subs are based.
@flashgordonsthemesong28387 жыл бұрын
There was concern raised over how a mutiny could affect a modern nuclear sub though. In the past it would simply result in a lost ship. Is it possible though that a disagreement between a captain or XO in this day and age could lead to nuclear war? The movie was realistic enough that it brought to light a serious flaw in American naval doctrine: There is no contingency to handle the situation that occurs in the movie. Like the admiral says, they were both right. The XO went by the book, but the captain was still following his last received orders.
@theexile66057 жыл бұрын
+Flash Gordons Themesong Good points, though if the sub had launched it would be totally the responsibility of the President who gave the order and not the Gene Hackman character as the callow Hollywood screenwriters wanted to imply!! @navblue207 жыл бұрын
That is why you verify then launch. If Ramsey had launched those missiles then gotten the retraction order it would have been HIS ass because he did not wait for the retraction order which countermanded the 1st message. Remember the Alabama had NOT YET LAUNCHED her missiles when the second message came in and was interrupted. The Navy admitted after the fact they didn't like the mutiny angle but they also changed certain things in terms of the launching of missiles.

Some of his better pieces in my opinion are: Time (Inception), Mountains (Interstellar), No Time For Caution (Interstellar), among others.

Hans Zimmer did an interview around the time he wrote this score where he said he often came up with tunes during a long bath.

My first exposure to this song actually came from a supercar manufacturer who had this on their webpage. SSC, who was hyping up their Ultimate Aero TT. I went to the site everyday to blast this theme without knowing where it truly came from. Fun bit of nostalgia.

One of the best, and one of my favorite soundtracks. Have it on my iPod and listened to it so many times that it would have been worn out if it was vinyl or Cd.
