I was curious about chitterlings as I've been reading about the love hate relationship African Americans have with it. While it has a dark history from slavery days, it's actually normal in many cultures around the world. In Nigeria we add it to what we call 'Pepper soup '. It's made with, tripe, chitterlings cleaned and cut in small pieces, cow leg, oxtail all cut in tiny pieces ,herbs ,spices, salt,,seasoning lots of pepper and then called assorted meat Pepper soup, then some spicy scent leaves, like utazi, uziza or nchanwu is sprinkled into the soup when it's almost done. Much love, I enjoyed your video .

You are so right and I’m actually on the love ❤️ side of it. It allows me to remember my ancestors and the sacrifices they made for all Blacks to have rights and be able to come to America and prosper whether native here or not this is now a land of opportunity for us all. Many don’t see it that way they want to forget the past of slavery and I understand but I believe the past brings you closer towards a better present and future because you know who you are and have a better sense of purpose. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I think a M.L.K walk should end at a chitlins cleaning festivity. And you should never clean chitlins while wearing fake finger nails painted with silver metal flake nail polish.

No need to take all of the membrane off. You’re removing the flavor. With pre-cleaned chitterlings you can just pull off whatever debris is left. It may take a little longer to cook but it’s worth it.

Warning ⚠️ Do Not remove the membrane off of Aunt Bessie’s brand chitterlings. You will be left with a slimy pile of ruin, after cooking. This lady lost me, when she made an extra point of saying you have to clean Aunt Bessie’s Chitterlings. No you do not, because they are immaculate, right out of the bag. Just rinse them well, inside and out, then cook them as is normal. You also do not need more spices than seasoning salt, pepper, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, an 1/8 to a 1/4 cup of white or red wine vinegar, and onion powder or sliced onions. That’s right, you don’t need any potato, bell peppers, minced garlic, or celery.

Pulling the membrane is the cleanest way to clean them as I was taught really young and removes 100% of any kind of hay, feces or any fat. It is completely cleaned once that inside layer is pulled off. Also is a faster process in my opinion

A few corrections: 1) the bulk of the junk or feces passes through the “tube” and NOT on the outside of the “tube”. The “tube” is the intestine. The “membrane” cover the entire outside of the intestine. In the normal state of the pig, feces should not be on the outside of the intestine. The “membrane” should NEVER have contact with feces. Feces should always be inside of the tube. Feces can come in contact with the outside membrane once the pig is slaughtered and if the intestines is punctured when the intestine is removed. You can review any video that shows this process. 2). It appears as though you are cooking your chitterlings for an approximate 2 hour timeframe. The intestines of the pig does carry many b

Girl have you seen the price of Ky. AKA chitlins. Well that's what we call them here in Indianapolis. KY. You're $25 a bucket 18 for the bags they have lost their mind. Back with my mother was a young lady she said that used to give them to black people for free just to get rid of them. Now I don't expect for them to give them to us for free. But I never thought I'd be paying $25 a bucket. Or something it takes hours to clean for me anyway. But I usually put a potato in the water while I'm cleaning them. To try to bulk them up I usually use hog miles. They almost taste like KY they're pretty good and a lot cheaper I hope anyway. 🙆🏽‍♀️
