Thank you for making these videos. It allows me to stay updated to keep myself safe from the harmful ideals my family is sadly brainwashed by. I genuinely believe I might have ptsd or some form of trauma b/c whenever I try to personally research what nonsense they’re spewing on their site, I get very stressed and I can never hear a single word they say as soon as they read Bible verses. My brain just goes completely blank and so it helps to have someone on the outside to analyze this. Makes me feel more at ease to know others view this religion as manipulative as well. 😭

Watchtower's level of disconnection from their own reality is beyond comprehension. Witness children are bombarded with manipulation, indoctrination and control techniques their entire lives. These children resent having to be different from other children against their will. Having to be taken out of the room during celebrations. Not being able to participate in after school or team activities, etc. Not being allowed to prepare for a career they'd enjoy. Then being forced to preach to these very same worldly students. Which very often results in mockery and or bullying. These young people grow to resent; and some even hate, the religion who is forcing this on them. When they get old enough they vote with their feet and leave. What is the GB and the writing department's response? Subject them to videos with MORE manipulation, indoctrination and control techniques. Watchtower doesn't seem to understand using the same hated techniques will only drive the young ones further away. Watchtower is either completely disconnected from their own reality or simply delusional.

The fictional guy in the video basically tells his science teacher as a teenage boy, "Yeah, this whole evolutionary theory is a bunch of bullshit, man. Trust my Church's interpretation of the Bible because the dudes who run my religion and the authors of the Bible totally know more about how the natural world works than any scientist with a fancy-schmancy college or university degree, okay." Apparently, the pretty hippy girl in his class is so impressed by this that she wants to give him a love letter, but he rejects it because her moral standards are "just too loose to the point of being nonexistent because you believe in doing hardcore drugs and free love. You believe in this whole esoteric Age of Aquarius nonsense. Get away from me you freak!" Then when he's in the hospital decades later over an illness, he refuses to have a blood transfusion. We then see him in Paradise thinking about how satisfied he is with his life. How do we know he didn't possibly die from refusing a blood transfusion? Being a JW can cost you your very life. Either you can die from refusing to have a blood transfusion to treat a serious illness or injury, or you are encouraged to forgo your life when undergoing persecution for your religious beliefs. You have to martyr yourself for the faith essentially. That's pretty scary if you ask me.

I accept that nobody has all the answers. I accept that we may never have all the answers to life's questions. People have differing opinions and you have to figure out what you think, believe and how you feel about things for yourself. I really don't care about how the historical Jesus felt about things as he lived in a much different culture and had different concerns. He's dead and has been dead for centuries, and I'm still here. Jesus' time on this earth ended when he was possibly 33, but nobody knows his true age. Some Church Fathers speculated that he may have even been an old man by the time he started his ministry. Only I can live my life. Only I can decide what I want to do and would like to do. Nobody can do it for me. I don't ask, "What would Jesus do". Instead, I ask, "What should I do?" What is right for me? What do I want to do? What do I need to do? How can I do it without having to step on so many other people's toes? Those are some of the questions worth answering.

Sweet baby Jesus this was pure gold! If someone were to make a satirical video spoofing what it was like growing up back in the day as a JW it would look exactly the same. Starting with my favorite part, the fancy leather bound Bible. I forget the name of the company that catered to JW’s, but if you had their leather Bible cover or even better one of their custom leather book bags for service, you were the man. They were a real status symbol. But the fantasy played out in the school is astounding. Letting the whole class know science is wrong and fundamentalism is right then having the class hottie throw herself at you as let her down easy had me rolling.

So I'd like to see you keep sharing your story your journey because I think it's such a valid valid commentary on the times that we're living in and the damage that this organization has caused. I love that you've given a microphone to the voiceless and I will always defend you my friends. Because it's not their business what you do with your flesh although they would have you think otherwise.
