Everyone keeps saying shit about Raiden doing crazy bs in Revengance, but fail to realize it is purposefully made to be a different genre of game than the mainline series. Yes Raiden is cool and powerful, however we consistently see the Snakes preform much more impressive feats albeit without as much hype due to mainline being a relatively more grounded experience than the action game which is Revengance. Just one point here: The Boss was not fighting for real in her last fight. That's confirmed in Peace Walker when Big Boss acknowledged she "put down her weapons". The fact that Naked Snake beat her that one time does not reflect his superior power over her, Snake knew from the very start of the mission he would never be able to defeat her in a real fight. Only reason he did is because she let him. That was her mission.

In multiple sources, it's actually alluded to or just outright stated that The Boss was going all out against Naked Snake. In the MGS3 Japanese novel which Kojima worked as well as the Koji Pro team, outright stated that The Boss was going all out and in that fight. She was going kill shot moves, even trying to decapitate him. The reason why Big Boss said what he said in Peace Walker is because her accepting that mission, that role in the first place is something he will never do. Using his philosophy from PW, he sees The Boss as a quitter that gave up her warrior pride to be the pawn of country scheme and he refused to be something of that nature.

Maybe it's just me and maybe it doesn't even matter by the end of everything, but I find it disingenous to say there's "no evidence" for the Boss holding back when it's ultimately unknowable. You even disprove your own counter-proposal of Snake possibly being emotionally conflicted with the prior "no quarter" paragraph; it says that SNAKE neither asks for nor gives the Boss mercy, it never says the same for the Boss. The Boss knew that she COULDN'T win because the mission *demanded* her death, that's enough evidence to say that it's definitely *possible* she'd hold back in my opinion. You can just grant both intepretations since he scales beyond the Boss in the end anyways, and her holding back wouldn't be an anti-feat, Snake just wouldn't scale beyond her yet. It even opens up a whole discussion of where the Boss would "really" rank if she were against Snake's rogues and did not hold back. Otherwise, great video, love to see it.

You also misunderstand the point of my bringing up Snake's confliction; IF you were to argue that the Boss was holding back then logically Snake would also be conflicted. I don't hold either of those positions in light of every statement just saying Snake beat her with literally 0 evidence saying she held back. Again, something being possible is not evidence to prove the point. The no-quarter statement means that Snake did not ask for mercy and was not given mercy in return; so she gave him no mercy. It's a military idiom an I've asked multiple service members what the statement would mean in this context. But yes, it is more or less irrelevant over all if you grant Gene > the Boss. However that in it of itself would add to the mountain of evidence saying Naked Snake just beat the Boss outright since he managed to beat a stronger version of the Boss 6 years later while only maintaining his physique rather than pushing himself. By your same logic, the Boss would have fought her hardest since she knew she was going to die and wouldn't want her pupil to fight an ultimately worthless battle; which is what she literally says on screen; and is supported by many, many statements.

Proper grammar tells us that the verb(s) of a sentence would refer to the subject's actions, with the subject being Snake; meaning that Snake neither asked nor gave quarter. And any statements of Snake being the "historically best" soldier are all informed by his "victory" over the Boss, so using that would be circular reasoning. That's the angle I'm coming from. I wonder if the text is more clear in JP. As for 6 yrs later, he doesn't have to be purely outscaled prior, his strength/durability could remain the same (since they are generally raised by equipment/radiation) but she demonstrated greater speed and greater skill multiple times against Snake himself nonetheless. She dogs Snake in Virtuous Mission, which wasn't long before their final fight, and even in their final fight she blitzed and disarmed him(Peace Walker Recollection). I don't see how my logic would lead to the Boss fighting harder, there's a clear conflict of interests in which the Boss is reluctantly following orders rather than practicing what she's preaching. She makes a big deal to Snake about not doing the things that she does toward the end, even down to not smoking. They were both(all) being used a means to an end, the Boss realized this and told Snake as much but also realized that someone still needed to take the fall. Her death is characterized as a sacrifice, permitted injury.

The PW recollections are from Big Boss’ faulty perspective, seeing as he’s recalling a setting from the end of the game but she’s saying dialogue from the beginning. They’re his dreams as he’s being tortured. If Snake is > Gene later on with no way to prove he’s gotten any better is in line with the evidence to say that he was better than the Boss in Snake Eater after we know he improved throughout the events of the game. She would have died either way because the bombs were going to drop, she’d already sacrificed herself, she wanted to make the last fight with her pupil the best 10 minutes of their lives. To say she held back goes against everything she was as a warrior. Also, I never mentioned any statements about Big Boss being the best solider ever; but all the ones saying he just beat the Boss with no caveat. No source at all says she held back, the opposite in fact.

Didn't the O. G. Big Boss aka John best David at the end MGS 4? Granted David was weaker due to his age acceleration, and he wasn't wearing his muscle suit. A 70 plus year old Big Boss still bested him in that cemetery 🪦🪦🪦🪦🪦 that day. But John's body isn't his own , they had to reconstitute and reconstruct him with parts from Liquid and Solidus, with nano machine augmentation. Therefore, it probably gave the the elder O. G. Boss an edge over Old Snake that day. . Love that scene in MGS 4.. "This is good , isn't it ?"

Like u mentioned Snake didn’t have his tech, he also didn’t want to kill Big Boss as shown by his putting his gun down in hesitation. Liquid and Solidus were stronger than Big Boss so him getting their body parts would only make him stronger compared to Snake who just went through hell, had none of his equipment, and didn’t want to kill. Snake essentially shit in Big Boss twice in the franchise.

Just NO with Old Snake vs MGRR Raiden. Old Snake is being supplemented with a lot of drugs and a Muscle suit. Maybe MGS 2 Snake with a muscle suit can contend against Cyborgs like how Sam can fight equally against Raiden having only a muscle suit and a cybernetic arm but Old Snake is David's weakest state. His missions happen months and days after the other because of how much maintenance Snake has to do with his dying body. He is also not mentally well adjusted which is his greatest weapon against anyone.

Despite being older he was still able to overpower MGS4 Vamp who scales far beyond everyone Snake and Raiden fought prior in MGS1 or 2; his feats are just better in 4. Snake in MGS1 beat cyborgs and in 4 he bullies characters that can gnoogie cyborgs. None of the missions in MGS4 have gaps between them, you just made that up. People in MGS4 also call him sharp as ever, and he solos enemies who have prepped against him and are using techniques and weapons combined from the bosses of the prior entries. Canon > headcanon.

@@CRISIS_COMICS He wasn't able to overpower vamp or Raiden. Vamp is either knocked out or being sneaked on by Snake. Snake is even struggling against the mini hand gekkos. Raiden is someone who can stop a whole naval ship with his own strength. Are you saying Snake can do that? Then why catapult himself and sneak in the Haven when he can just turn the ship upside down. Snake is seen being given oxygen respiration inbetween chapters and he only has a year at best while his cancer grows. He's also not "as sharp". His psyche drains every time he hears the word "old" or when his back hurts. He also forgets things(like the password if you didn't put the correct one) and even Sunny explains things to him for someone who has an IQ of 180. MGS 4 is supposed to humanize him not scale him with whatever BS power scaling. The only thing stronger with Snake in MGS 4 is his nicotine intake and his will power. But he is mentally and physically weaker than he usually is that the muscle suit does most of the physical labour to compensate for his lost strength.

@@Deuces10 Again, Snake needs to "kill" him first before you can choke him out especially in higher difficulties where sneaking is impossible against Vamp. While still recovering, Snake has to quickly inject him the nanomachines suppressor. By then it's Raiden finishing Snake's work. Snake is still an effective assassin despite his weakened old self. He's still Solid Snake as old Snake but in a hand to hand combat he can't chase Vamp who can jump 1 to 2 storeys high.

I think some of these placements are a little iffy, like with Ocelot you left out his time in GRU, his parents, the fact that he _picked up CQC by watching Snake do it,_ and that by 4 he had Solid beat in CQC on the Volta. That, and the idea that being able to win a fight or shoot more FROGS than Raiden could kill does not mean more power. There’s strategy, situation, motivation, mental state… you know, PLOT that makes the fight more interesting than x is stronger than y.

I have other videos that go into more detail about Ocelot. As for MGS4, Old Snake improves throughout the game to the point that while fatigued and without his sneaking suit he managed to beat the same Ocelot that dominated him before. Guides even state that Liquid was hoping to test himself against Snake by the end, so he knew the Volta fight wasn’t definitive. The Haven Troopers would have better training than MGS2 Raiden, better exosuits amping their strength and speed, and their potentials unlocked on top of that. None of the placements are iffy!

So if we go by 57 megatons x 3, they would be mountain level by MGS1 and is backed up with Psycho Mantis being stated to be able to cause natural disasters

No metal gear is continental. Nuke scaling doesn't make any sense as Raiden is shown to be FAR below a nuke in destructive output, but still capable of besting supposedly nuke proof MGs.

Raiden is leagues above Gray Fox who can tank the destruction of a Metal Gear that fodderizes Metal Gear's that can take nuclear bombs with no damage. Also Monsoon was calced to be able to throw vehicles with more kinetic energy than the Tsar Bomba which Raiden can tank and slice through.

​@@adrinalin275 calculations proved that Raiden stopping Outer Haven is a much better feat than him throwing Ray and Excelcus and Snake scales to that since he can no diff Vamp who nearly killed Raiden twice. Raiden gets stronger with his upgraded bodies puls Blade and Ripper Mode, but Snake is still stronger due to the fact that Raiden stated he would defeat Sam who scales to full power Raiden and Senator Armstrong.

That crossover event was the worst thing for Smallville legacy, it completely undermines Clark's entire journey of acceptance of himself and who he is and meant to do. Superman would never make that decision like so many other heroes.
