@@handeyecoordinationskills at 5’8 standard shafts could be long for you. The problem with “standard” is such a wide height range falls into that window. Yet outside that every inch or so is like 1/4” difference. But it’s really best to get fitted, cause so much goes into it. Might be a lie angle, shaft length, shaft weight, too many variables to just guess. As expensive as golf is, it’s worth $100 do atleast get properly fit for irons. If you don’t want to spend the money for a fitting, you could go in and ask them to measure you the old school way, wrist to floor. But at 5’8 you’re on the border of standard or shortened. But there are also people that like one length shafts, so rather than descending lengths, they have one length in all their irons. Gold is crazy, and everyone is different. As far as I’m concerned “standard” is a baseline for people buying off the racks, rather than getting properly fit to see what works best for them

I have trouble with my head getting too far foward how can I correct that

Spot on tip! It's where the ball is in the arc of the swing which will determine whether it's a good shot which means having the correct stance and ball position. With the driver, I place the ball in line with my front foot and with irons, it's slightly in front of the middle of the stance.

Martin, I tried your Simple Strike Sequence at the range today (I watched the videos last night) and I felt compelled to tell you that they worked amazingly! I've struggled with a cupped lead wrist for a few years now that I could not fix, at all, and in just a few balls I immediately noticed the difference. The way you deconstructed the backswing was unbelievable, lightbulbs went off all over my brain. I had my best ball striking in the range today, and switching from Pitching wedge to 7 or 6 iron was a no-sweat task. I am keeping it slow for now, but will ramp up the speed as the feels stick. Thanks my man!!!

@MeandMyStaffy that is exactly what I was talking about. I could not create a flat or bowed wrist at the top of the swing no matter what I tried. I was, by far, the most frustrating change I have attempted in my golf swing. And Martin’s 10 minute (approx) drill changed that. I was dumbfounded that it could be so simple. I have continued to work on it every time I go to the range, I start with 8-10 shots of his simple strike sequence (the name seems gimmicky, but it isn’t) and then move on to my normal routine. I combine that with the string placed 5-6 inches before the ball to avoid fat shots. The change has been remarkable. The cupped wrist is pretty much gone.

Why show Rory's DRIVER swing mechanics during an iron strike mechanic video..? Rory and most pro's hit up on the golf ball that is tee'd up 3" and the driver set up and swing path is WILDY different from an iron setup. Is the hip relocation "concept" the same between iron and driver?

Why show Rory? Even w a driver his pelvis relocates and rotated well forward of where it started. Even more critical to hit an iron crisply.
