You are a very lucky man in the fact you have such a key understanding of so many fascits of the golf swing mechanics. So teaching pros love to just give tidbits to reel you in like a fish on a hook; you do a wonderful job of giving the major swing factora, then, you continue with easy and very simplistic methods to help the body and mind ingrain and implement these fundamentals in a practical and easy to understamd way of remembering. Too many online and otherwise golf pros go far into too great of detail and way too advanced jibberjabber leaving the client with no better understanding then they had when they started. You have a true gift of giving crucial information and making it easy to follow, why it is needed, and how to easily implement the procedure. Keep it up.

Great videos and instruction. I haven’t picked up a golf club since I was 12. I’m now 26 and a week back into it. Yesterday was my worst practice yet. I can home and watched this and the driver video. Today was completely different. With the help of your videos, I’m already hitting 100-150 yards on my irons and 200 yards on the driver, Thanks again!

The first drill worked great for me. I wasn’t taking a divot before so focusing on driving through and hitting down on the ball gave me an extra 10-15 yards and more consistency with my irons. Shot my best score of the year (75) off 8 handicap. Cheers Clay!

Clay, it seems almost more natural for amateurs to hit shots and play golf with feet starting together just to always reinforce dynamic forward weight shift. Insufficient contact seems more a product of separated feet ! A concept that is hard for many to learn.

I haven’t been able to get any solid answers on this question but maybe you can shed some light on it. Are you always supposed to take a divot in front of the hall with all irons? Same kind of divot in front of the ball with a 3i as you do with a pw?
@TopSpeedGolf4 жыл бұрын
You'll take a divot ideally with all your clubs but the divot depth and length can differ. You'll come in more shallow with longer clubs due to the length of the club creating a wider arc and you'll also play these clubs a little further up in the stance. You'll get a deeper and steeper divot with wedges because they are shorter clubs and the ball is played typically more in the middle of the stance. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Can you speak specifically too the straight line release (which is club between the arms ) a few feet past contact. I love this terminology and ideal position to get to. After working on trying to get to this straight line after impact (filming myself and reps) I found that I was delivering the club (straight line) directly at impact. So I do flip the club (very disturbing to see in slow-mo). But man... is this tough to break. I was under the impression that I needed to deliver the club to the call at this straight line at impact. Which brings me to this question or hoping you can explain further. If we are getting to straight line after impact then is the full force (energy & momentum) of the club happening way after impact ? Please help
@TopSpeedGolf4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the question. The release is happening in front of impact. The club is actually slowing down when it's getting to the release so it's at the fastest point at contact. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

Clay. Enjoy your presentations however I have a consistent and frustrating problem. When I practice my irons I shank maybe 30% and occasionally on the course. I have invented my own ( embarrassing) solution by taking my trail hand off the club at point of impact the results are more pure shots and shankproof. It is however disconcerting. Any advice? Phil

If only driving ranges still used grass...the mats hurt my shoulder and elbow. Unless you’re at a private club that still uses grass tee boxes, it’s hard too practice making divots and know if you are covering the ball. Have any tips for this kind of situation?

Yeah, I agree 100%. I would recommend putting a thin towel on the ground behind the ball. If you hit it then you know you're hitting behind the ball. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

@sonnyjames89224 жыл бұрын
Clay, I see that in order for the divot to start in front of the ball, I'll need to have a vertical or slightly forward lead side compression line. Thus, the opposite move we use for a driver where we want to bottom out behind the ball and then hit up on it. I haven't hit a ball yet since you taught me about compression line, but it does register with how I think. It makes sense. I may only need to hit one iron and one driver practice shot and have it all down.
@TopSpeedGolf4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sonny, thanks for sharing. If you have a narrow stance and/or play the ball more forward then you may have a target leaning Compression Line. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
