as someone from Buffalo and someone who has had many Buffalo chicken sandwiches, I recommend after baking the chicken to coat it in the Frank's hot sauce and instead of mayo put creamy blue cheese dressing on the bun and NO CELERY ON THE SANDWICH just lettuce, celery on the side :)))

If you really want to improve this recipe you should soak the chicken in spiced buttermilk. It makes the chicken super tender. Also, replace the mayo with beaten eggs and this recipe will get healthier without any extra effort.

Mark Streeder buttermilk would tenderize the chicken better if it was marinated for hours. And egg batter is better for frying. That’s a whole different recipe. This was intended to be faster and an alternative to frying 😐

Great idea! I'd brine the chicken in buttermilk/hot sauce instead of the mayo coating, and also sub blue cheese dressing for the spread on the sandwich. Butter toasting buns would add that fatty flavor reminiscent of wings too. And no lettuce. Slice celery thinly and make a celery slaw.

I didn't have any bread crumbs so I crushed up stove top stuffing and used that as bread crumbs. It was great.

Pre- toasting the panko is so key, I love this tip. No egg mixture for the chicken is also a nice twist from a classic chicken cutlet recipe. The mayo as the "glue" is such a clever idea!

errbody talking bout "making it healthy" here or here.. that ain't what it's damn about i don't think. using the oven and mayo is simply to make it so much easier so there's not the damn hassle of frying, etc.. like lol.

I'm gonna try this real soon. I can't stand mayonnaise. I'll marinate the chicken in a buttermilk/red hot mixture. Yum! I'll get King's Hawaiian bread. There's gonna be a party in my mouth.

Looks good. I think i'd skip the celery and mayo in the roll and just add some blue cheese dressing and sliced tomato from the garden. Perhaps a slice of swiss cheese melted on top for the last couple of minutes as well.

Hi. Does the browned prepared crust last long for short term/long term storage for future use? Does the mayo coating have a strong flavoring compared to buttermilk as a binder? Me no likey mayo. lol Cheers. :)

Jeff Deason you could marinade it in buttermilk and coat the chicken in an egg mixture if you want to avoid mayo.

I'm not a fan of hot sauces. Could I still use this recipe if I were to replace the mayo/hot sauce mixture with the usual egg bath?

The Mayo/red hot coating ended up being so thick that it didn’t crisp up, and fell off. I had made some with egg, and the coating was thinner and very crispy. Could I coat them just in red hot next time?

I tried frying my chicken but the panko breading came off. most of it. Also I noticed that the mayo hotsauce mixture looked super think. I used Dukes mayo. I didn't change anything that you did in the video. At 3:00 in you said you said frying was an option. I wanted to know did you test this recipe out and actually pan fry. And if so maybe tell me what I did wrong.

Pharos Symphony id made sure you pat all the water moisture off before breading. That explodes when it hits oil and blows your wanna be crust off. If you still have problems dredge in a scrambled egg before breading. If you want to go even deeper you can score your breasts by using a meat mallet a bit to give them texture everything can better adhere to.

Regular bread crumbs or maybe crushed corn flakes. I made a similar crispy chicken sandwich a few weeks ago but then I used crushed Dorito's. Delicious!

These look like they're disappointing. Like, you bite into it thinking Buffalo Chicken and you get """""Buffalo""""" Chicken. Remedy: Soak chicken in hot sauce for 30 minutes. This tenderizes the chicken and fills it with a ton of spicy goodness. Done!

Because there are still these persistent myths out there that the only "crime" worse than frying ANY FOOD at ANY time, ANYWHERE, under ANY circumstances is, "strangling a puppy", maybe? And that just closing the oven door so that it can be *pretended* that a few then "hidden" oil splatters in the closed box of an oven simply just don't exist, and that therefore it equals "no mess", versus the few seconds it would take to wipe the same oil splatters from the stove or cooktop, which apparently sends just too many home cooks into a meltdown, because that's viewed as simply just too much "work". At least according to the crew which produces these videos, it seems.

Frying sucks! It's more hassle, all that oil wasted, the whole kitchen stinks no matter how high your exhaust is, your hair and body smells of fried food and not to mention it's way more unhealthy..

Andrew Cook they cant really win, unfortunately, they used to get a lot of criticism for being overly enthusiastic and fake, now they've toned it down they get criticism for being boring and lacking energy.
