Hi Sarah! I am German born and raised and been eating quite a few schnitzel in my life. Germans use pork instead of chicken but I use chicken or beef as well since I live in the US. We don’t use any zested lemon peel in the coating, however in Germany the schnitzel, pronounced schnit--zel, is being served in restaurants with a few lemon wedges to squeeze over the schnitzel if one likes to. We salt and pepper the meat before dredging it in flour that has also been seasoned with salt and pepper. Just thought you might want to know😀

When I was in Las Vegas, I had pork. I had never had it that way. I have to say, I like it better than beef or chicken! ❤

Im Austrian, from the original Country of Schnitzel, and yours don't look bad! Instead of Panko bread crumbs we use Kaiser Roll crumbs, and we even use more oil in the pan and keep pouring the hot oil over the top of the Schnitzel which makes it extra crispy! I love dipping them in cranberry sauce, and we always squeeze some lemon on top right before serving, but adding lemon zests to the crumbs is a good idea too. :)
