I grew up eating grape dumplings. Which is a treat I learned from my Grandma Betty. She was my daddy's mother. She's from the Chickasaw Indian tribe here in Oklahoma. Her grape dumplings Was made from the juice of muscadines or possum grapes which are a wild berry . I've never heard if strawberry. I'm going to makes these come Sunday. Thanks for the recipe Sara

My grandpa and grandma and I used to go to a place in fort Bragg when I was little that served peninsula which is little dumplings like that with toast and sour cream and it was so good reminded me of that this looks delicious ❤️

Goose berries grow on a small bush and they kinda look like a light green seedless grape. Some kinda sweet some tart The color of them will vary depending on the area I guess or the amount of sunshine. Ms.Dusty Houston TX looks soooo good

There are different varieties of gooseberries. Pixwell are the ones that are smaller and stay mostly green, sometimes with a hint of pink. Hinnomaki turn dark red when they ripen. I know there's a 3rd variety, but I can't think of the name. Doesn't matter, all gooseberries make the most amazing cobblers, pies and jam. 😍

I was taught to put the lid on for 15 minutes to cook the dumplings so the dumplings didn’t get dense. I will have to try this with some cinnamon in the dumplings. ❤️

Sara, thank you! My great aunt made blueberry dumplings like this and it tasted amazing. Only got this at the right season of the year, depending on what fruit was in season. Much appreciated! 💖 Edit: I do know gooseberries, they look a bit like a green grape. Very tart/sour but I love them. What I wouldn't give for a taste of my Grandma's gooseberry pie again.

When my mother made dumplings, they were dropped quickly and NEVER stirred until they were cooked. That just made them fall apart and fouled the liquid. They were also dropped in simmering gravy or syrup; not a boiling cauldron. That looks kind of messy and not too appetizing. Just saying...

Something didn't seem right in the method. The dumplings shud have been dropped using two spoons and no stirring til the dumplings were set.

Honestly, Betty seems like an unskilled cook. Every time she’s on here, the food she makes looks improperly cooked and unappetizing. Neither one of them know how to properly fry or roast anything. It is really weird that keep making cooking videos as if people would want to duplicate what they’ve made.

@@teresabasinger5965 yep you're right. I've watched a few of these episodes and I do believe Sara has a pretty good intuition in the kitchen, but she isn't trained. Dumplings are a quick bread and shouldn't be beaten to death in an overcrowded boiling pot.
