We had to install control and trim wires in the 401. These wires are very confusing and must be perfect! We looked over the install with a couple of A&Ps to make sure we were completing it right. It took hours of work over multiple days to finish, but we got them in and they work great! We also had the Austin giveaway winner stop by to pick up his new car and we sold the Cougar we just recovered from Michigan! A lot got done here this week, welcome back to Rebuild Rescue!

The 401 project got me interested in this channel and continues to hold my interest. Going from just seeing if Jason could start both engines to a full rebuild of this aircraft not leaving out any details. I think a lot of us will be very excited to see the 401 Phoenix fly again starting it's new mission helping people. This channel reminds me that there truly are good people in this World and Jason and company exemplify this.

who on Earth would need a 401 to fly "recue missions" in Eastern PA? Nobody! Think of how many commercial flights are available near philadelphia....all of you are naive af

@fredflintstone505 4 ай бұрын
@@Robadobo Just because you can’t think of a reason, doesn’t mean one doesn’t exist. People with the knowledge would call you narrow minded, unable to think outside the box. Apparently the thought that not everyone can afford a commercial flight out of PA came to your mind. And who said it was limited to PA? Your response is what happens when someone lacks enough life experience to make sound judgement calls. Here’s a thought, maybe an old veteran that can’t afford a flight to a veterans hospital across the country? Or maybe a family with a child that needs a specific life saving operation that can only be performed at a specific hospital far from their home and they can’t afford a flight? You really need to open your eyes and realize not everyone has it as good as you apparently had.

Thank you so much everyone! I realize after the fact this probably wasn’t the right place to mention that, but it currently so defines me it colors all my thoughts. Let me share this: each episode on this channel offers valuable lessons beyond just planes and mechanics. It delves into important aspects of life-perhaps the most crucial ones for leading a fulfilling life. Jason, Joe, and the entire crew truly deserve my utmost respect and gratitude. P.S.: Have you ever considered proposing the idea of a documentary about the 401 project to streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, or any other? I am confident it could not only simplify things, especially financially, but also that the project merits such recognition.

when removing a cable always replace it with a string line so the new cable is easily pulled through. it’s easy to get the auto pilot cable mixed up with the elevator trim cable . you can have a birds nest before you know it . always compare the new cable with the old . the dash numbers on the part numbers are often a changed on the model difference . always make sure the new cable has been prestretched as this will creat cable tensions issues later .

The 401 will not only fly again but it will be employed on many critically needed missions in the future. It is destined to be one of the most popular airframes in General Aviation history. Everyone who flys, fixes, or builds airplanes will want to have their picture taken next to the 401....and for good reason. God bless you and your crew Jason. I always maintained that our training school should have brought in a micro surgeon to train us how to do all that cable run and 'Blind' work. Would have saved thousands in man hours over a year. One guy maintained painting his hall, stairs and landing through the letter box in his front door was good training.😄

Back when I was a Radio Maintenance Technician in the Air Force - the job I hated above ALL else was tracing wires to ensure continuity or just trying to figure out someone's jury rigged mod because the left NO drawings. So guys, I know how much you love running those control cables!!! Don't envy ya all one bit and I'm too damn old to climbing around in the tail section of any plane!!!!

Absolutely love these videos dude! It really captures the organic feeling of how a shop feels with some great friends and think it’s the best thing a mechanic can have 😄 keep up the great work, would love to see it at an upcoming Airshow soon :)

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the rudder trim is set opposite of what it's suppose to move to. Right trim.... Back of rudder trim surface moves to the right...trim left....trailing edge of rudder trim surface moves to the left. I don't want you to fly and trim left and the plane trims to the right. Any flight surface that moves down, lifts wing. Any surface that moves up, pushes down on wing. Now think of that vertically, including trim surfaces. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm just a private pilot. Lol

I'm not sure which type of wiring is more of a pain in the ass. This type, or electrical. Great to see the Cougar being sold to a flight school!!! 💯
