Wouldnt it have been a better idea to leave the engines off the wings instead of mounting them for better access to the firewalls so that hoses and all of the other stuff could be attached to the firewalls. Now the engines are in the way which will make it moree difficult to access the firewalls.

Jason, The knowledge gained from doing this build is irreplaceable. Economically this project never made sense, but somehow you and your sponsors got past that part. What a great project to get back in the air. The big twin Cessnas are a joy to fly. Once you have flown one, you never go back. I’m a Cessna 340 rescue owner. I’m under water in the job and probably should have scrapped it. It is one of the best flying light twins I have ever flown. I’m an older guy and this is probably my last plane. Not sorry I did it and you shouldn’t be either. 23,000 hours flown all over the world. I would not trade a minute of it for all the money in the world! Go Jason!!!

Hello Jason!!! In my case. I'm not even an aviation fan. But, when I saw that video with a title saying, Free airplane if I can make the engines run, it got my attention. Is it going to be expensive? Yes Is it crazy to get on a project that big? Yes Can you buy a 401 that it is flying for less money that what you will end up spending? Yes. But, can you buy the satisfaction of accomplishment on flying an airplane on missions to help the people in need that was finance by the people? NO That is priceless. When the plane gets done, everytime it hits the air, it will be an icon of what people can do when they are united, reunite resources and becomes one towards a common goal.

42 yrs in aviation and I would not have taken on this project, due to my experiences with frame off resto's of street trucks. Always something "else" biting ya in the a**. With a plane its even worse due to the FAA regs, inspections, and certs, unlike a street vehicle, if it runs and moves, its good to go. Vehicle engine overhaul is about 25% of what ya pay for one of yours. A set of Tires and Battery MAYBE cost $1200. Now the wiring and avionics, my specialty back when, is a minor nightmare, most of my trucks have a MAX of 85 general purpose circuits at the bulkhead connector. NOW the real work, I resto'd/fixed a 79 Dodge D-250 Pickup and project was 14 to 15 months, so I feel for ya. BUT the way your attacking this project is a complete resto and FAA won't object when its all done. GREAT JOB Jason.

I watch many restoration channels where people repair miner's lamps and models of double decker buses but you are doing this with a damn aeroplane! It is just insane and such compelling viewing. I just KNOW you are going to get the 401 flying again - there isn't the slightest doubt in my mind. As for those who have sought to throw a spanner in the works by alerting the authorities to your efforts - they have surely done you a HUGE favour in the long run. If you think, you have an entire filmed catalogue of just exactly how meticulous, careful and safety conscious you have been at EVERY step of the journey. If you had $10 for every time I have heard you say "This piece is probably fine but it has a slight scratch so we are going to replace it" you wouldn't need any more funding. Keep on keeping on guys - you are doing a fantastically good thing and you are doing it fantastically well. All good wishes from the UK.

This crazy yet so adventurous project continues to inspire so many of us. I started watching your channel way back when you had just started with the 401 and it's been a joy to watch how your subscribers have grown since then. Maybe it's your attention to detail or how you are able to share your journey with us that comes across as honest, sincere and with a spirit of persistence and hard work or maybe it's your dedication to truly making a positive difference in other people's lives, but whatever it is it seems to me that what your offering us is a whole lot more than just restoring a bird destroyed airplane, but a window into the human spirit and what it's capable of when people come together under a common goal to achieve the impossible. I can hardly wait to see your face when the 401 finally makes it off the ground. Keep the faith friend! Let's Fly!!!

That guy has insight into what happened from a pilots standpoint and what he knows of aircraft. But not so subtly he ripped rebuild rescue to shreds and accused them of being cowboys who are skirting the rules and are just an influencer channel with no thought of real world risk. One idiot said he was careful with his words. That isn’t true at all

The Grand Father of 401 just pass away. He was so generous and honest that he gave it to you and us, even though I am not a pilot (yet?) I am delighted with your work. I keep my fingers crossed for the project and pray for Sam's family. An amazing man who never spared help and died doing what he loved has passed away.

Jason, Thanks for that wonderful ride down memory lane. As a subscriber, supporter, pilot, and huge fan, I look forward with great excitement, to hear the words “Positive Rate, Gear Up” on the 401. There is no doubt amongst your true followers that this day will come. “LET’S FLY”

I think it's good seeing something that isn't a "warbird" getting brought back to life. It's giving the average person on the street a good insight to what is involved. Myself, I am looking at getting into a glider hopefully through a share setup or solely my own. It's definitely not without cost. And that's without the complexity of the 402. As for the haters, no one is forcing you to watch. Move along.

I have been following you since the start of the 401 project, and been amazed by the dedication to this, and also the mission you have for bringing old abandoned airplanes back to life. It is partially responsible for me starting down my long dead dream of learning to fly and getting my pilots license (that and my wife telling me I need to find a new hobby). It’s been a challenge and I’m still waiting for that”Money that will miraculously appear “ 😂. This and other channels like this is what has been helping to keep going. Thanks for doing what you do.

You guys made my day when you mentioned you worked with McFarlane for the control cables! I was the intern from the McFarlane engineering department that met you at Oshkosh. It was awesome to meet you guys and I'm so happy I get to be associated with a company that helped with the 401!

Tbh, this thing is legit your gonna be your flagship aircraft, I cannot wait for it to begin its angel flight history and I’d love to see an entire series of her adventures thru the sky, I hope that one day while I’m driving one day I look up and see that beautiful bird soaring thru the sky myself and cry with happiness that I and many others made your dream of recovering this aircraft a reality! Keep on keeping on brother! Much love from the US West

I am literally shaking and crying upon learning just now that Sam was involved in the fatal rebuild and rescue airplane accident … I came looking for this weekend’s new video and found out … it’s just beyond sad. It crossed my mind following the channel since the free abandoned airplane about safety of flying and now this? I am literally shaking. My deepest condolences to Sam’s family and the team. So sorry !!!!😢 It’s too surreal !!!

My dream since childhood was to be a pilot, but literally everyone told me it was an impossible dream. I was told I would never fulfill that dream, but I did. On May 5, 1992 I passed my private pilot exam and became a licensed pilot. It was hard, and it was expensive, but I did it. I had dreams to go further and earn my instrument rating, and a commercial rating, possibly gaining employment as a CFI. I was working towards those goals when the terrorists actions on September 11 happened. I paused my training at that point, and began a new job driving a semi, but my dreams were absolutely shattered after I had a stroke in 2012 while on the road. I can no longer fly because of the residual effects of that issue (vertigo) but I continue to enjoy aviation through video, especially Rebuild Rescue. So it is imperative to me that you continue with your work. Keep it up.

This is unquestionably one of the coolest and most awesome projects and channels in existence. I am actually amazed you’re still under budget for now. The end goal seems almost unobtainable, but I believe it’ll happen!
