The recent news that barely a third of viewers watched Amazon's Rings of Power all the way to the final episode, evoked an outpouring of non-surprise from us. And a fair bit of laughter.

As to Galadrial's strength. She was MUCH MORE powerful in the books than here. Naturally it's been a few millennia but she was always regarded for her magical prowess not swinging a sword like nearly anyone else in Middle Earth. By the War of the Ring, she was instrumental in breaking the northern pincer of Sauron's army (Battle of Lonely Mountain/ not Five Armies/ I wish it was in a film somewhere.) By this time it was stated that Sauron's minions avoided her forests because nothing less than Sauron himself could hope to overcome Galadriel's power. Power you don't get by swinging a sword like everyone else.

It’s a delicate, feminine way of exerting your power. Not saying that using magic is feminine, but for someone like Galadriel, a delicate feminine princess, this would be proper for her character. I had a hearty laugh at the cutaway to the Numenoreans doing their best to kill their horses before even arriving at the Southlands village. When I was a kid I read something, a commentary on Charge of the Light Brigade or something idr, that said historically cavalry charges like the aforenamed were actually more like fast trots until they got really, really close to the enemy--only then would they start running. Otherwise the horses would get tired too early. Managing horse-endurance is a plot point in "The Name of the Wind" and "The Searchers" too.

I don't think we'll ever have an adaption with the same level of care as the PJ trilogy ever again. At least not any time soon. That trilogy was a totally unique moment in cinema history. A nobody, genre director from New Zealand, who was a huge lifelong fan of LOTR, managed to take control of an adaptation and put an entire country's film industry behind it. It was a passion project on a scale we've never seen before. It was also an underdog story the whole way through until the release of Fellowship proved everything PJ and his team did was the right thing. You gotta remember before Fellowship LOTR as a franchise was relegated to only fantasy nerds, literary nerds, and academics. Sure it had a few animated adaptations and radio plays, but at most the general public was mainly familiar with The Hobbit at most. And only because it may have been a book they read for school as children. At this point any studio attempting a LOTR adaptation is trying to ape PJ's LOTR. It's no longer a labor of love from one director and his passionate team of Hollywood outsider nobodies.
@KrazzeeKane

The LotR trilogy was the last true Epic of our time. It was on a literal "epic" scale, the bigatures and extras and crew and just sheer love and effort put in. All the practical and CGI blended perfectly, it's the last epic film series ever made imo. Avatar and such try, but it's not even close to the level of effort and skill that the LotR trilogy was.

She wont hear any negative aspects of the job and will circle the conversation away and around from criticism of how she handles things as MUCH AS POSSIBLE so she doesn't have to deal with changing things for the better. Some people are in power for that very reason because they know how to manipulate people into think tanks that are only insular for the bosses benefit and fragile psyche.

Amazon acquired The Expanse and gave it a satisfactory conclusion. I'd love to see a compare-contrast. How did Amazon not screw up The Expanse, but did screw up Tolkien? Was it an Andor situation where they didn't care enough about it to meddle, or something else? I'd be interested to learn more.

I think amazon bought expanse to bring viewers of the existing show to their platform and since it had existing seasons didn't want to meddle - the show included production staff, writers, etc already.
