You really just need to do this whole album, each song flows together so well and it’s a concept album

btw this album is free the band released this album to the fans, you can torrent it from their side and release it under a lable if you want or alter and remix it its one of may favorite albums from the gizz its about transcendence and seeing what you cant see (the ultraviolet spectrum which is the fourth color) the opening track alone is a masterpiece in itself as a person who did psychedelics this album is pure magic the composition mixing and mastering is on another level i can hi9gly reccomend it my favorite track is loyalty which has ultra nice synth work

If you like this song in particular, check out the whole album--polygondwanaland. It is a concept album that specifically highlights polyrhythms and polymeters. It also has some awesome storytelling

The outro is also a throwback to a similar sound they repeat on a lot of albums. The baseline is for sure similar to the song Robot Stop of the album Nonagon Infinity.

As someone who has done psychedelics, your idea of heightening of senses is close, they definitely are heightened, but they also become connectedl; it's very weird lol

Thanks for checking this out, just realized I missed trying to catch the stream, so glad to see the video! Just saw so many comments on the last king gizz reaction asking for it that I couldn’t resist donating for a reaction 😅 Oh, also just to add: Totally agree drummers are crazy, although this is from the era when King Gizzard had two drummers, so that could have helped or hurt how hard it was to do the polyrhythms in the drums Ah yeah, and for the lyrics/story tbh I meant to add a bit more context but never got to it. The story of the coup, the guy then wandering the desert, and getting the power of tetrachromacy is mainly told by the previous 3 songs. The previous song strongly implies this is the man now returning to where he came from with this new power. Oh yeah, and the vinal only “hello”, the significance is it’s in the same voice as the cyborg “Hyntayumi” (an anagram for humanity) from their album Murder of the Universe. So it implies a connection there between the wanderer and the cyborg from that album.

Glad you reacted to this! King Gizzard is one of my favorite bands, and the album this is from (Polygondwanaland) is one of their "best" albums, especially on a technical skill level, and was also one of their least lo-fi albums at the time it was released, but I'm never in the mood for it. I also don't really know much of the story, though of course I know it's connected to other albums from earlier in their career. For example, the "hello" at the end of the vinyl version is spoken by a character named "Han-Tyumi", a cyborg narrator from the third chapter of their album "Murder Of The Universe", a spoken word, progressive garage rock album. It's probably there to let the listener know, if they dodn't catch it previously, that these two albums are absolutely connected. Speaking of the vinyl version, this album was the start of the bands "bootlegger" program, where the files for the album are completely free to download and do whatever you want with, with a specific vinyl mix that removes the ambient section and adds the "hello" in this song. Since anyone can make and sell pressings of this album (as long as the band gets a few copies), that makes the vinyl version of this album very accessible compared to their other main albums. The bootlegger program also includes live and demo albums. I know that I'm probably going to have to donate for you to react to something, which I cannot do at this moment, but if I could I would recommend their song "Rattlesnake", mainly because from what I've seen from you you don't like repetition, dissonance and lo-fi music, and that song is _intentionally_ repetitive to the point of getting annoying, from an album that's the first in a series of fully microtonal albums, and sounds like it was recorded on an old tape recorder (which it was) with sand intentionally thrown on it. I'm just recommending a song that I know you won"t like lol

amazing vid, polygondwanaland is my favorite king gizzard album and i'm glad you enjoyed the song and hope there will be more vids on king gizzard. love the analysis btw, i never really dove deep into the lyrics farther than the general idea of the album as a whole but your analysis and theories on the meaning behind them are very interesting and makes me want to really go into the lyrics across the whole album to see if i missed any little details

Somehow you have found the one type of content where you can spend a good chunk of your time fulfilling viewer requests and yet it doesn't hurt the integrity/quality of the content at all. Also, cool song!

Every time I hear this song, its structure makes me think of Ticks & Leeches. Even if it has a very different vibe and sonic palette.

Great insights! I wonder if you’d analyse Witchcraft of them. Beautiful song but the verses polyrhythms are very challenging. Too challenging? I tried for the past year to make sense of those two layers, lead VS pseudo-reggaeton rhythmic section. I can’t align them… if not at the end of every 2 bars with the “Witchcraft!”. Is it what they want? To have two totally incompatible feels matching up later? Or there’s a way to interlock some snare or something in the lead melody somehow?

Mh no These rebels get obliterated, “just like that the plot was crushed” 🪦 “some were found alive though” and “one did make a pilgrimage” in search of a family. His journey was made all the worse having had his eyes gouged. 🤕He was left blind to face his destroyer… He walks across the land… until! A castle. 🏰A twist of fate. Someone (doctor please….) dines with him and tells him about tetrachomacy. Is this his revenge path? Digitize, cut the eyes from the king (🐉 2023?) and augment to the fourth cone! (all is known)
