He can claim he's not being paid by NRS or WB but his actions is what causes people to think this way in the first place. MK1 is in a really shitty state rn, like on the verge of dying and it's only been out for 5 months. And he has the audacity to sit there and act like all is well and the game has never been better and we're all just blind to the truth. If he truly cared about MK, if he truly cared about NRS making a good game, he'd be openly criticizing and talking about ways to improve it and fix all of the real issues it has going on rn. Instead he makes dumb shit like "Tekken 8 vs MK1" where he spends the entirety of the video shitting on Tekken, when we all know it's by far the superior game and it's not even close. Loving something doesn't automatically mean you have to kiss ass all the time, and that is exactly why people continue to think he's under WB's payroll. I cannot take him seriously and neither can a lot of passionate MK fans either, cause he does more damage with his videos than actual support for the game and overall franchise. Great commentary btw.

I still think it's more about his personal channel and trying to keep that alive with positive MK content so that his viewers still engage with the game and so want to watch his videos about upcoming news. I don't think it has anything to do with being paid by NRS or WB. I think he just doesn't want to be a doomer content creator and there could be many reasons for that, and so to keep his channel from losing the interests of people in the same way MK1 has, he feels the need to hype up MK1.

The whole MK1 vs Tekken 8 video he made was really bad... He claims to be a Tekken fan, but had like, nothing good at all to say about the game. He pretty much just shit on it and talked about how great mk1 is. Everyone knows Tekken is a complete package and an overall much much better game. It isn't even a contest at this point, MK1 is dead.

People have a problem nowadays. They don't know how to differentiate. Even if it's someone you support for example, if they say something wrong you won't agree with them because in general you like them, you will voice your opinion. The same goes for games, movies, actions etc. If you don't agree with something and you are brave, you voice your opinion and not lower your head towards it. But it's like you said my man, if you do something or upload something there are gonna be people who are gonna hate and you must always be ready because at the end of the end we can't all be perfect. Just because you're not being paid by the company doesn't mean you're being honest. I remember long ago when Fallout 4 came out and MrMatty put out his "Fallout 4: A Near Perfect Game" review because he had been hyping it up for himself and his fans so much and his entire channel rode on it, and Bethesda had invited him to their studio and gave him the free tour and all that stuff. Later on he'd go on to admit that the review was a mistake, and he'd given in to all of the hype. The moment you start criticizing the product, that all stops. It's why people like Tolarian Community College in the MTG Community have historically gotten the cold shoulder from Wizard's of the Coast events, despite being an integral part of the community. TUG had admitted to being invited to play NRS games early, and his whole channel resolves around NRS right now, so I truly believe his content exist for the sole purpose of not losing out on that connection with NRS. In other words, I think he's a suck-up. And while I don't know him as a person, I know him as a content creator. He is a dishonest content creator- we've seen the countless clickbait videos on his channel on the lead up to MK1. We know he'll title a video "MK vs TEKKEN" and make it all about criticizing Tekken alone. That's not speculation. We've seen that- so of course people are going to stop trust him.

I stopped watching TrueUnderDawg some time ago once I grew tired of the clickbaity thumbnails and video titles, so I really don't know what kind of content he makes these days outside of whenever someone makes a response video to one of his takes. I don't hate the guy, but I just choose not to engage with his content anymore. I will say I do enjoy his presence on Kombat Kings though. Maybe it's from having co-hosts to bounce off, but he tends to be more critical of MK1 in that podcast and it's a pretty fun time =)

From what I observed over the years, if you don't preface your criticism with 'no malice/harm intended', most people will assume it's hateful by default; and in most scenarios I don't blame them. Some "critics" tend to be over-the-top and resort to personal insults right from the beginning. When that happens frequently to a person, it's no wonder the line between criticism and hate is so blurred these days. Transparency is key in today's internet. That being said, I don't believe TUD was referring to you in that post. More than likely, it was FATE or some other schmuck with less-than-noble intentions.

I follow TrueUnderDawg but I like it when he does videos with The4thSnake and SonicHaXD for their KombatKings channel better than his solo videos but I still follow him. I get he's more news type but I like when he does non-news videos. Or his guides because I learned some tips from him for Skarlet in MK11. I think True is more emotion based because there's been a few times on KombatKings when SonicHaXD has asked him "I get what you're saying but maybe if you said it like this" or "well, maybe the way you said something makes it come off in a way you didn't mean" type of thing. And no.There's nothing wrong with critiques. I would like to believe I've improved myself from input from a dear friend about how I approach things. I think for TrueUnderDawg those comments are more for a certain group of KZbinrs and their followers who do use slander and other questionable tactics like trying to dig up personal info and from what I understand this has been going on since MK1 came out. Certain groups within communities of anything are why I'm more lurker. If it means anything, Mike, I don't see you as part of any problem. I see you as one of the more positive sides who understands the power of critique and tries to mindful about what you put out and anything you do put out there you take accountability for it. I wish more people understood this and could be their own version of it.

And he could very well have positive feelings towards the game so he may be genuine in a lot of what he says in his videos, but I still think he will be aware of the fact that he needs his audience engaged with the game for the betterment of his channel. And I think that is part where the weird positive spin takes, and pretty excessive clickbait come into play.

It fucking baffles me how some of these ppl can sit and defend Pluggers and also say that Ranking doesn't display your Rank and skill. Plugging is just another form of abusing the system and nothing is being done about it. In Tekkens case; Its Almost always YES it doesn't matter (cause so many Bots/Boosters/Cheaters online flooded - the game) but in a offline and Local setting ~ It Most Definitely Matters: on Rank. Back in my day (console days of X360 Exclusives, PS3, with limited Network) and they didn't had Crossplay back than or Rollback. Ranking, forums and locals mattered a lot! I meet one of my Nations Pro (2 Time winner) at DOA4 At 12y Online and had weekly sparring sessions with that person and 4 other players. That's how communities were/was built back than same with Street fighter 3rd strike and SF4.

I don't think the way he presented his opinion is like of someone who got bought out. It seems just basic biased fanboy opinion. It's similar with PoE x D4 from D4 defender POV. They tend to nitpick when attacking a game that is objectively superior while trying to find some positive factors to defend the game they like (and usually they are also pointless factoids). They are a dwindling breed (as defending this game at this state is basically indefensible), but they exist and in this case was from a relatively big channel. The problem is people may have think he is the clear rational type of content creator. To me he is the fanboy type. He will be super positive toward MK even when criticizing while taking some slights a bit personally as an attack to his reputation or something. Not sure if he can take the criticism rationally and move on, just ignore it, or take it emotionally and double down.

I didn't want anything less of Mk1 being Brilliant with multiple games mode's and endless replay Value! Better Customisation options, a kick-ass Conquest mode mini games etc!
