I'm pretty sure the team is looking to build a domed stadium so that they can host a Super Bowl. Since Dan Snyder has done a spectacular job burning bridges between not only fans but also local governments in DC, VA, and MD, I don't know if there will be any progress unless and until he finally sells the team to someone else. If it were up to fans, I think the stadium would be built on the site of soon-to-be demolished RFK Stadium, which does not get the credit (or blame) it deserves as the first of the dual-use stadia which dominated American sports in the 70's and 80's. I think that the stadium might just get built next to FedEx because the land is cheaper and the people who live near the stadium aren't rich enough to launch a major NIMBY fight as in other facilities. While this could be Virginia's chance to finally be the home of a major professional team, I suspect NIMBYism will keep it away.

@@Loukious I hate the Highmark name of the soon to be old Bills Stadium. Wished it kept it's first "Rich/Ralph Wilson" (The Bills first Owner and Founder) Stadium name. The planned new building Looks good. Plus most of the residents preferred the current Orchard Park site instead of one in Downtown Buffalo. Big negative is that the Bill will *never* host a Super Bowl for at least 40 years, if ever in Western NY State. Only other 2nd negative of this new Bills Stadium is that there is no *mass transit* access at all. I think the Bills, 49ers, Commanders aka the former Redskins and "Jerry World" aka A&TT/Cowboys Stadium are the only ones with no direct train or express bus access to their cities downtowns. Since the Bills current and new homes are right off the NYS Thruway aka Interstate 90 not far from Downtown Buffalo, A HOV lane on game day/night on "90" should be built. Thus fans from Downtown Buffalo won't have to get stuck in traffic. And freeing up traffic on the Thruway, nearby highways and even the "Peace Bridge" connecting into neighboring Canada. FYI. I may be wrong, but I strongly suspect that eventually, most NFL stadiums in cold weather cities will have domes---not because they are afraid of blizzards but because they want to host the Super Bowl, Final Four, and major conference basketball tournaments. One notable exception is Lambeau Field, which because of the size of Green Bay, is not going to host the Super Bowl. (I can see the NFL make an exception to the "only NFL cities can host Super Bowls" and have the Super Bowl in American Family Field in Milwaukee with the Packers being the official host). I should note that the latest renovations to Lambeau Field do allow that facility to be used all year even in the NFL offseason.

It is deteriorating in several locations. Particularly the plumbing system is a complete mess. It was estimated to cost 1.8billion to maintain Nissan Stadium through 2039. The city and the Titans haven't made the decision of keeping the old stadium or building the new one yet as far as I am aware, but they have the renderings and some very primary construction documents for pricing/estimating. So we know what direction they are thinking.

Would it be totally impossible for the Washington Redsk... urgh, Commanders to build a news stadium at current RFK Stadium? It would look pretty cool with the end of that axis from the Washington Monument - National Mall - Capitol - RFK Stadium.

That stadium that the Mayor proposed looks awesome, but impossible

i do agree that the commanders do need a new stadium but the problem i have with that is they didn't take care of the current stadium. it's around 25 years old & is falling apart mostly due to lack of maintenance & the field itself should not be as bad as it is.

That Chicago rendering kinda reminds me of Hard Rock Stadium, except Miami made it work, made it cool, and it's pretty fun going there for football games and Wrestle Mania. Just let the Bears build a new stadium and get out of downtown Chicago.

What do you think of NRG Stadium? Do you think there need to be changes made? The stadium is also 20 years old and though there hasn't been word on whether or not they will do some renovation to the stadium, I feel like eventually they will have to do something with NRG sooner rather than later.

@@91_C4_FL The city is too connected to the Astrodome, that's the only problem. Talks fell short on what to do with the aged dome. Now it's just marked as a historical landmark.

The Commanders one reminds me of the SaddleDome in Calgary. That would be an interesting look for a football stadium. Hopefully Washington can get a good owner before they build a billion plus dollar stadium that looks like it belongs at a rodeo
