To add onto what you said near the end, I feel like a lot of people are greedy to hold onto their turns and it makes sense when you don't fully understand the game. It's the only time that you have control over what's happening and when the game tells you that shooting yourself with a blank lets you keep your turn, it's pretty attractive to take that risk with the thought of guaranteed damage in the next shell.

32:50 Even without the bug, since there's 2 live left the dealer doesn't know what it is and would have 50% chance to shoot himself, giving you the win. I'm 10 days late, but the round that was going on around 20 minutes I think needs a mathematical deep dive into every possible permutation to see what the optimal strategy would be. With 3,4 loadout, 2 smokes, handcuffs, and a dealer handsaw at only 2 life, what ever has the optimal chance of surviving to the next loadout is the optimal strategy. I could see that possibly involving making use of the handcuffs and smokes to boost those odds, but without doing the permutations, I'm not sure.
@tfd_ange838010 ай бұрын
I'm really curious, wouldn't the best option for 3:30 be to not shoot the dealer, if it's a live, you have a better chance to survive the dealer's turn and if it's a blank you give yourself better odds to win. What do you think?
@delightfulkissboy892610 ай бұрын
Good question. I believe it's best to use handsaw there and shoot dealer. You have a 50% chance of winning, and a 50% chance of missing. If you miss, dealer has a 50/50 shot of shooting you vs. self. If he shoots you, he has a 4/7 chance of hitting. You'd have to run the calculations to the end of the round, but bc Dealer shoots randomly, I still think you have somewhat favorable odds of winning even if you miss. Would have to calc it out, but am not home rn :^) If you turn gun on self, I think you're most likely going to end up in the same predicament again and you're giving the dealer a turn and potential later to kill you if he misses on the coming turn. If he misses, you're basically back at square 1.

i'm curious about the math you did for beer increasing your odds in a 50/50 situation. i did some math myself and i calculated that beer only increases your odds of hitting the dealer if there are more live than blank bullets loaded.
@delightfulkissboy892610 ай бұрын
Yeah, so I actually went back and looked at the spreadsheet I made and it's pretty negligible for most cases with the dealer AI. The times I'm seeing where it's at all beneficial in descending order of benefit are 2 live 0 blank, 4:0, 1:1, 3:1, 2:2, 4:2, and then the rest are pretty negligible. Was misremembering my calculations from when I didn't know how the dealer worked and was assuming a dealer that always shoots you. 1:1 and 2:2 it's still good to use beer, but 3:3 and 4:4 there's a tiny advantage that's almost negligible. Love the PFP btw, Godspeed is one of my fave bands.

There isn't that many possibilities in this game, shouldn't it be possible to make a program that can objectively determine the best move and confirm it concurs with your decision-making?
@delightfulkissboy892610 ай бұрын
I don't think it's possible to make a bot that's objectively correct in every scenario, but you can certainly make one that's almost optimal. The reason I say that is because theoretically a round can go on forever lol. It's extremely unlikely to go very long, but if you think about the scenario where you keep getting 1 live 1 blank and both players get cigarettes every round, that can go on indefinitely in theory. Incredibly unlikely scenario, but technically possible, so a bot that doesn't take that into account wouldn't be fully optimal. And since the space of possible rounds is infinite, computers can't take all of them into account. But practically speaking, you can make one that's good enough lol.
@delightfulkissboy892610 ай бұрын
Actually thinking about this more, you might still be able to play objectively optimally, the math just gets harder than I'm willing to figure out lol. You'd need to figure out how your odds mathematically change as loadouts approach infinity. If you can do that, you might be able to figure it out objectively. Example: imagine a simple game where you flip a coin over and over and try to get as many heads in a row as possible, then your opponent tries to beat that. If you flip tails, you automatically lose, but you can choose to stop flipping whenever you want. You can technically flip infinite heads, but you can mathematically determine when you should stop based on probability because we know what the probability converges to as the number of flips approaches infinity. So you can play this game optimally even though the game space is infinite.
@scpAmir10 ай бұрын
I have a question. You and the dealer are 1hp. You have handcuffs and you cuff the dealer. There is 2 blanks 1 live currently in the chamber and the previous shot was live. Do you shoot yourself and hope the 66% is in your favor then shoot the dealer twice or shoot him twice and hope the last bullet in the chamber isn’t live? I made the decision of shooting myself and lost my hour run 😭
@Aagames_10 ай бұрын
if you use handcuffs and there's 2 blanks 1 live, shooting the dealer twice gives you a 2/3 chance of winning if you shoot yourself once, there's a 1/3 chance of dying and a 2/3 chance of winning, so it didn't matter what you did.

3:54 Would shooting yourself here work? 50/50 of hitting a blank or a live round. If you hit a blank, then you shoot the dealer with handsaw with a 3/5 chance of winning.
