CRKT Hissatsu Fixed Blade Knife with Sheath: Law Enforcement, Survival, Black Dual Grind Tanto, Textured Rubber Grip, Molle Compatible Sheath 2907K www.amazon.com/dp/B0016CT78W/...
Description
James Williams, the designer of the Hissatsu, is a former Army officer and martial arts practitioner/instructor with over 45 years of experience. He knows cutlery as President of Bugei Trading Company, producer of fine Samurai swords. As one who has trained tactical law enforcement and military forces for the SureFire Institute, he has developed a unique and powerful approach to unarmed combatives. His system of defensive tactics, known as The System of Tactical Strategy, has its origins in the ancient Samurai military systems as well as the Russian military art of Systema.
A key part of this system is the Hissatsu based on an old Japanese design. The unique shape of the blade, made famous by the legendary Samurai warlord Takeda Shingen, provides enormous penetrating power and superior slashing capability in one blade, which works with the natural motion of the body. James arrived at this modern version as a backup weapon for close-quarters combat. This is a focused single-purpose knife for use in anti-terrorist/close-quarters battle (CQB) environments, either as a primary or a secondary weapon to augment the handgun in the hands of trained professionals.
The Hissatsu's dual grind Tanto blade is 440A stainless steel, high satin finished. For those who prefer a non-reflective finish, the Hissatsu is available with a black EDP blade or in Desert Tan dress with titanium nitride blade coating.
The Hissatsu features Japanese kanji characters on the blade that signify, "the killing blade."
To aid in law enforcement and military training, a Hissatsu Trainer is now available with a blue handle and aluminum blade with a rounded trainer edge.
The handle is in a traditional Japanese pattern, but is Twin-Fused, double injection-molded with a high-impact polypropylene core, butt and hilt, and a non-slip soft textured rubber grip handle surface. Oyatsubo, the emperor node on the omote (outside/public side) of the tuska (handle), allows you to know which direction the blade is facing, even in compromised lighting conditions, by touch.
The custom injection-molded glass filled nylon sheaths (in matching black, Desert Tan or blue) grip the knife firmly, and have removable belt clips which can be attached high or low, vertical or horizontal with the black two-piece screws provided. There are also holes and slots for carry on belts, webbing or equipment.
The Hissatsu is intended for use only by trained law enforcement and military tactical team professionals. Enormous power in a light, flat package makes for easy carry with many options for placement on tactical gear.

This is one of the first proper fighting knives I ever bought. Got it when I was about 15-16 when Amazon was just starting to be a thing. 14 years later I still have it

I love this knife, one of the toughest fighting knives I've ever used. My only issue with it is that the steel doesn't hold an edge for long at all and the sheath sort of dulls it. As you said though, it's meant mainly for stabbing shit, so it doesn't need to be a good slicer. I've beaten the hell out of it, stabbing it into ammo cans, wood and all kinds of shit. I have also batonned with it a bit, which it wasn't awful at.

That’s good to hear. I try and put pressure on the spine when I draw it out of the sheath, as I know even if it’s loose if the edge touches that material it will dull. Good to hear it survived batoning and all that

Thing I love about the Hissatsu is the sheath will sit right in a belt loop. No extra retention needed. Just shove it into your belt loop at 6 o'clock

I need to add one to my collection. I've been meaning to for a good while. I'm also a major James Williams fan and have quite a few of his designs. 👍🔥 $3000! 😧! Crazy! For less than that you could get a Williams Blade Design HZO and HZT and a Ben Tendick waki that James Williams designed.

Currently, blade HQ has the best prices that I’ve seen on these. Bought one today after a friend wouldn’t trade a satin version one i traded to him years ago 😅. He sent it in for a professional resharpening that was borderline a regrind. Insanely sharp now.

Wish I would have come across this at 59 bones! It is currently $88 w/ 15% off so $75ish which still seems like a great price. I love James Willuams' designs & the fact this knife & sheath runs about 10oz is a great price/weight/feature package. It is larger than I would generally carry for a backup knife, but if I need to stick someone I would like this one within arms reach. I am also really tempted by his HZ6 which is another beast of a knife & would be curious which you prefer.

Such an awesome looking knife, been wanting one for a while. I have the hissatsu folder. Gonna have to grab a couple while they're still made like I did with the Obake and Obake skoshi. Missed out on the Yukanto. Also gonna grab the new blacked out Cold steel Kyoto 1 and Kobun. Nice stealthy tantos - all of them

1:40 my imagination fills the gaps by imagining that you're going to gift this knife to someone who is a big woodcrafter and when they realized they cannot baton wood or other Bushcraft chores they will have a bad day.

You still liking this one brother? Was thinking about picking one up or the HZ whatever, but i had one of his folders years ago and wasnt a fan of the steel. I know you do your own edge work also so i figured youre the guy to ask

Thing is with most of James Williams knives from crkt is they’re meant for stabbing, and the edges come barely sharp enough to break skin if you were to take one and saw on your arm lol. The hisshou shinbu and sakimori were different though they came stupid sharp. This hissatsu is a decent fixed blade and can be sharpened if ya have the tools and experience to do so but it’s still mainly a stabber. I was mainly pushing this because they were on sale at the time on amazon and people were already scalping them on eBay for like 4 times the retail.

Thats kind of the same experience I had with the folder I had years back. The tip was great but the blade seemed to lose an edge quicker than my other blades. Been looking at this and the HZ6 from CRKT.
