OH my goodness. I never comment on anything but I just need to say how perfect this is. I just started crocheting about a month ago and found it SO rediculously difficult to find clear instructions for where to start as a beginner. Thank you for compiling all these tips into one place! The cherry on top is it came from you, Caitlin! Thank you!!

A friend started crocheting recently and influenced me in getting into it, I bought the materials but I just can’t get myself to start! It just feels so daunting and I don’t know where to start… But I love the idea of starting from a beginner project that I’m interested in!

These are great tips! I've been crocheting for 25 years and agree with your tips for getting started. I was excited when you took up the hobby and you've come so far. Your projects are fantastic. My tip would be concerning crochet hooks - I have been using a set like the all metal ones you showed for all my crochet years. I tried the ones with the plastic/rubber handles (like you have one of) but found the comfort really depends on how you hold the hook. I learned there is a "pencil grip" and a "knife grip". Personally I'm a "pencil grip" crocheter so I think that's why I find the metal ones much more comfortable. Definitely agree with you that the metal allows the hook to glide through the yarn easier. I've tried plastic too and that never works out for me. Can't wait to see what fun crochet projects you make next! Happy crocheting. :-)

You did a super job with this video! I’ve crocheted a while, so I was curious how you would share your journey to help newer folks. I think you hit it out of the park. :) well done and have a great day!

I have started crocheting this year because of you! I started out with just doing eggs and moved on to the chickens. I crocheted a little Ratatouille costume for my son this year and it was perfect! Now I’m starting on Christmas gifts (flower pot coasters, mittens, table runners). Such a great hobby ❤

Ahhh, this came at the perfect time. I’ve been thinking about learning to crochet, but was a little overwhelmed with all the jargon and stuff out there. Thanks for the tips!

Love the style of the video! I crochet for around 5 years and started for commuting during my apprenticeship. As a tipp: Just celebrate every bit of progress. I started with basics and get better from time to time :) You gonna do better within every project!

I started crocheting at the start of this year! What really made it click for me was doing a woobles kit where every step has a video instruction and the yarn is incredibly easy to use (you end up with a little animal at the end, much like the chickens). Since then, I've made a granny square tote bag, lots of hats and some sweaters; there are some incredible designers out there writing patterns for garments that look really professional (huge fan of lola.crochets and daisyandpeace)!! Such a fun and relaxing hobby :)

I love your chickens! They are just so dang cute. Especially in their little santa hats. I actually just started crocheting about a month ago using a few of those Woobles kits as my guide. I had tried to learn in the past but it didn't click. I think learning to make a plushie type project really helped me learn. I made a fox, narwhal and pumpkin. Now I've moved onto making a throw blanket using the moss stitch which I've so loved. Feels like I have a dozen potential projects saved that I wanna do now haha. Thank you for providing the links! I love that whale! You did such a good job with the shape and using two colors of yarn. I'm inspired to try it myself. Can't wait to see what future projects you do!

I started crocheting last December, and you were one of the people that inspired me to start! It has been such a fun journey and a massive means of stress relief. I’m so into it now that I’m attempting to hand make all my Christmas presents 🎁 ❤ Wish me luck!

Such a great video! I've tried a lot of crafty hobbys (I found you through BuJo content so many years ago!) but felt like I needed a "practical" application for it. Cocheting makes me feel like theres a purpose to my craft/escape as weird as that sounds. I feel guilty taking time to do my own hobby but feel like I can make an excuse to myself if I am making something that I can use or I can give to someone else to use. I love that I can, as you say, get lost in a pattern. My first couple of projects were newborn hats, a pink one and a blue one, and thats how I'm going to announce the gender of our new baby to our family!

I’m definitely an advocate for having a second project going when doing larger repetitive projects (like gran squares blankets) I’ve been making a lace daisy cardigan and I’m really enjoying it but I’m not stopping myself doing other other projects like a turtle amigurumi ect. I will say if I mess up i often will photo it then frog it not keep it but that’s just cause I don’t have the space to store lots of projects.

I have crocheted for years. My mom taught me . Right I’m crocheting kindle and book sleeves. After them, I am going to be making a Tunisian crochet baby blanket using a stitch called Entrelac. One of my favourite online yarn stores is Hobbii, their stuff is amazing

The first time I learned how to crochet (last year) I got so frustrated even with help from my friend 😅 IDK I always admire people who can crochet and genuinely find the activity relaxing, and I want to get on that level too someday. In the mean time, I'm working on not getting too overwhelmed with the patterns

You could also use the chicken with the egg as an egg warmer for hardboiled eggs at breakfast/brunch. 😊

Did you keep any of the supplies when you did your reindeer wooble?
@w.vangaal107725 күн бұрын
You forgot about the woobles kits you used BEFORE the chickens.. 😉 ALWAYS pay for patterns and don't sell items made from it. Just give them to family.. it a hobby, it is not your job.
