I very much appreciate you using good ol’ USA terms and measurements! It makes the project so much faster and easier to follow. Most of the time I skip the tutorials that use metric, etc because of the extra time it takes to translate it and still get an accurately sized project. I’m sure you can tell I’m definitely in the older if not oldest generation. ☺️

Tried this. Will have to try again. Brim was super tight, and then hat got a lot bigger. I don't like the tuck in this stitch at the end. That's why we needed to add a stitch. You need that to turn. Otherwise, you lose a stitch. Hope I get back in the mood to try again. I really like this to make for a young man for school.

OH you absolutely could!!! Especially since the Beginner Friendly Mitten Tutorial I created is done in single crochet stitches you would just make one of the rows a spike stitch row. Love you idea. Thank you for the inspiration. 🤗❤️🧶

I only have #4 worsted weight yarn. Do you think it would be close if I doubled the yarn. I also cannot find my K hook, but I do have J/10-5.75. Can you please advise? Thank you.

GREAT QUESTION! Yes, if you double up the yarn and then keep the hook size the same as I use in the pattern you should be good to follow all the instructions and get a great fit. Thanks for asking! HAVE FUN! 🤗❤️🧶

By the way, I made an orange, navy and white one, Denver Broncos colors, without the pom pom (men🙄) for my neighbor across the hall, and he absolutely loved it. What if I just have weight 4 yarn ( 1color each) will the number of stitches change to make this alumni beanie

Hi Rodnika. Great question. The size 4 weight yarn will be thinner than what I used and will result in your beanie being smaller than what I created. However! there was a section where I ran out of Black and took 2 strands of a size 4 weight BLACK yarn and crocheted them together to equal the thickness of the yarn I was using. So, if you have a lot of size 4 weight yarn you would like to use to make this beanie I would recommend working with 2 yarn strands together for the whole project and you should be ok! 😊🧶❤️
