So this became a family event. Up until very recently I've only crocheted (badly mostly) blankets as I learned from youtube. I can't read a pattern for love nor money. My husband always takes an interest in my crafts and decided he wanted to try crochet (something about it was the only way he'd get to spend time with me). Turnd out chaining is the only thing he can do (our 8 year old daughter had to get in on it also). So I did the body and my husband and daughter did the tentacles and my husband put it all together. Thank you for making a fun and easy to follow project the entire family got in on.

This was my first crochet project, and i made a whole army of big, medium, and small jellys, and i gave everyone of them to my grandma. @laurenpettifer23923 жыл бұрын
It will!! Just practice over and over again :) I used to have to watch a tutorial everytime i made a slip knot or magic ring.
@stephl52303 жыл бұрын
Slip knot: If you wrap your hook back to front twice (yarn over twice) and hold onto both tails, pull the back loop off over the second loop and it creates a twist under the hook. Then wrap another yarn over on the hook and pull the new back loop over the new loop. Now you have a slip knot! The magic ring is harder to remember Wrap your wrong index finger the wrong way around twice and hold tail tight. Insert hook under first loop and pull the second loop up. Now yarn over and pull the first loop over and off. Then you can just start working your single crochets into the whole. You stop thinking about it after you've done it enough times. Don't over think it. Try a different video every time until one clicks and sticks in your memory. For me that's the above examples. Good luck!
@avely_4983 жыл бұрын
I made these without the key rings because i just wanted a mini jellyfish and i can confirm that the key ring is NOT 100% needed so if you want a mini jellyfish but don't want the ring, it works fine either way! I'm a beginner at crochet and this tutorial is perfect! Thank you for making it so easy to follow. I've made three of these so far, and instead of adding a keyring to mine I've turned them into cat toys! I mixed catnip and honeysuckle in with the stuffing and gave them to all my furry friends for holiday gifts. For the first two, I made them according to your tutorial exactly, but for the last one I crocheted an extra row and increased to 30 stitches to make it a little larger. I also added an extra set of tendrils. It came out the perfect size for a cat toy and I'll definitely increase to 30 again for the next one! Since I can't find safety eyes anywhere in my city I've been using rivets on other projects, but because I don't want to risk them coming apart and my cat choking on them, I used black yarn to make smiling n-shaped eyes by following the steps for making a smile (I just did it upside down). The faces are simple but so cute! Thank you again 😊

I've since moved out and shes changed jobs but I still love small projects from time to time. I didn't make a key ring in mine and I attached the tendrils different. Also I used little string knots for my eyes it gave it a little female eyelash type look. I just used stuff I had laying around but it worked. I have a marine biologist friend who crochet too so I sent this to her :) thanks for a cute and fun project! Making something small makes me feel better on depression days because I see progress and success. The only thing that confused me was the magic circle. It had been so long I forgot and being left handed it's hard to follow the right handers way of making it. Oddly crocheting is easy...just flip the work but the circle stumped me for far too long. Love this little guy and the daisy, too. Your hint on how to thread yarn needle is wonderful--so easy. Going to make lots from scrap yarn for church bazaar this year. Great instructional video. LOL

Also Phildar do similar style yarn, if you want the chainette style - fairly reasonable proces and in dk or aran.

How exactly??
@stephl52303 жыл бұрын
@@sarakhawar1221 I took about 8inches of black yarn, tied a knot in the middle 2-3 times and then saddled it over a stitch with one leg of the yarn going in the place she said and the other leg going in the one beside.

question: can you make the eyes out of yarn? and also do you have to include the key chain?
@HookedbyRobin4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can make eyes out of yarn! And no, you don't have to add a keychain if you don't want to :-) x

I used a bit of hemp cord I had from a previous project and made a knot in it. It gave my jelly little lashes! I thought it looked amazing and I left the keychain off too. I have a million keychain and one house key lol

Love these little guys - they are so cute and get easier and easier to make the more you make…. A real hit! Some have hung them from their mirrors in their cars… using them as a key chain is a bit difficult because the tendrils get tangled up…. Love them - thank you for making this video so easy to follow!❤️❤️❤️❤️
