If I want a shorter triangle beneath the bobble can I chain 5 or does the number of chains not matter as long as there's 3 chains from hook to crochet into??

You're correct, Danielle! You can ch 5 for a smaller triangle or if you ch 3, you'll just have bobbles (no triangles).

I’m so very sorry, but you aren’t a very good teacher. Are you doing a 4-dc-bobble? Or a 5-dc-bobble? You kept saying “5” but I think you meant you are left with 5 loops on your hook? I wish you would have counted your dc’s. I’m sorry but I found this very confusing. Finding myself having to go elsewhere to clarify. But your blanket is beautiful.
